Newcastle as a global brand are far larger.

The stadium is worth twice Palaces maybe even more.

Newcastle training was on par with Palace (now they have far better)

Player wise not that much in value difference back then.

No one would pay 200-250m for Palace it makes 0 sense.

One big issue with Palace is small fan base (If we had stadium the size of Newcastle would we even fill it every week I don't think we would)

The work on our stadium should have been done years ago too much messing about as soon as SP had two Americans in should have started paid up whatever you have to under the table to people because for how long this has gone on is costing so we will if it does get done end up paying over three times the amount anyway.

This is again why we need SP replacing as chairman he's not a good business man (He has gained most of his wealth from salary at Palace)

The price Textor paid for his shares/loans values Palace at c.£250m.

SP may not be a good business man, I dont know, but he has done a great job for Palace so far. If it wasn't for him we might not even have made it out of administration. Overall he commands a fair bit of respect in football. And well deserved.

Nonsesne.

He owns at most 60% and you are trying to claim that is worth 250m when he didn't even pay 90m.

I am not going to get into the Admin side of things multi parties have different stories when it comes to that.

Who cares about respect it's about what you achieve.

Palace has been in this league over a decade and not advancing in some ways gone backwards when you look at it as we got to a cup final and now are not even pushing for another.

Stoke was like this look how they ended up.

Hi Grumpymort,

I found this on the internet which might help...

Textor is understood to own more than 40% of the shares in Crystal Palace, making the American the Eagles’ majority owner. Although his stake is controlled through Eagle Football, which boasts further investors. Parish, Harris, Blitzer and Franco own their shares in the south London natives individually.

Harris and Blitzer are both the second-largest shareholders in Crystal Palace as the pair each control stakes of 18%. While Parish has retained a shareholding of slightly over 10% since his CPFC 2010 – initially alongside Martin Long, Stephen Browett and Jeremy Hosking – rescued the Eagles in 2010.

Franco has the smallest shareholding among the majority owners of Crystal Palace at around 5%. The South African businessman first invested in the south London outfit in March 2020. But he injected further funds during March 2021 to help finance upgrades to Crystal Palace’s training ground.

If Textor is around 40% then individually he holds the most shares but he doesn't hold the controlling vote(s).

Palace may not be worth what the owners are asking at the moment, but over time the price will continue to rise.

How is it not like a house? I could be happy to sell my house now for £250k, even if comparisons suggest it's only worth £200k. But I'm also content to wait for another few years, confident that it will be worth £300k.

Premier League values will continue to rise, perhaps even meteorically, and U.S. investors are taking note. Why?
1) Sports gambling is exploding because of loosened regulations
2) NBC's TV contract runs through the '27-'28 season, so they'll be marketing the PL to the max,
3) At U.S. broadcast times (Sat-Sun mornings) there's no competition for live sports viewers

Your house can drop in value as well which happens.

Palaces value is not going to go up.

You need to look at many factors from the likes of stadium to even fan base.

The people in charge are happy to just be in the league so no push to move up the table or even cup runs.

We have 3 American owners yet we do not even push the Palace name over their again showing poor running of the club.

How can you not even have merchandise distribution in Americans that is madness (saying that it's poor even in UK you have to get direct from palace)

Mainly because there is little demand for it, simple economics.

Does anyone know how football clubs in general, and Palace in particular, come up with the actual money for transfers, assuming they are not funded from cash flow (what a quaint idea)

I suspect most clubs borrow against future earnings e.g. TV money. Barcelona sold their TV rights for decades in return for a cash lump sum the problem with that is you are selling the family silver.

In Palace's case I think are borrowings are under control thanks to Parish.

Getting the owners to inject their own cash is difficult, unless they are fans why would they?

So we bump along not too much in debt but never solving some of our long standing issues over certain positions.

As for Textor the owner who complained that people at Palace (I suspect he meant Parish) don't listen to him. Well his club Lyon is bottom of the French league, without a win and up to their armpits in debt. So maybe he's not as smart about football as he thinks.

Palace had quite a loan to a financial institution - around 30 mil. But we had higher loans from shareholders - more like 50 mil. We had about 70 mil outstanding in loans a couple of years ago. As you say, our biggest revenue is TV.

My question is more specific than that.

With França, for example. How would cpfc most likely have got the ~£20 million to send to the other club.

Would a fresh loan have been written?

Could have been, or further shares could have been issued, or it may be all installments.
