In the Man. City game it was refreshing to see Wilf's reaction when the ref. awarded Palace a free-kick for a fouls committed against him. Instead of going into his usual routine of gesticulating and mouthing off to the ref. (even when awarded a free kick) he just got up and got on with it. A new Wilf?? Can this last??

was this at The end of the game ? he was probably just knackered.

I was watching the Man U game last night and it was mentioned that that Jadon Sancho cost in excess of £70m.
He's also reputedly one of the four highest paid players in the Premier League.
In my view he is not better than Wilf and for that matter neither is Arsenal's £70m Pepe.
I wouldn't swap Wilf for either of them.
Yes, they are both younger and may still have potential to fulfil, but Zaha has produced at Premier League level for a number of seasons and is proven.
I'm not saying Wilf doesn't have weaknesses in his game, but so do Pepe and Sancho.
Because of Wilf's past high standards, I think some (including myself on occasions) are less forgiving and and more demanding of him.

Palace have come a long way from where we were 4 or 5 seasons ago when we were so reliant on Wilf, we were pretty much a one man team. The magic Wilf produced we now rarely see, he is still an integral member of the team and a top player but has lost a bit of what got us all out of our seats.

I would very much like The club to keep him and I hope he stays, however if he moved on I for one would be sad, but with the current squad I don’t think he would be missed..

It’s been said before “no player is bigger than the club” this is very true, we’re still going strong after other icon’s departed,

Great post that ^^^

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Wilf has been playing a fantastic game in the last few games. He is now playing as a team member and Patrick is very happy with his great game now. A good example of this was against Manchester City when once again he was being fouled numerous times and he would just shrug his shoulders, get up and play. He now exhibits a team player. No more sitting on the ground waving his arms. This is the Wilf we want.

Here since 81...(LAST CENTURY !!).. x-Dunraven School, early 1960.... Palace 'nut' since 58....

I was in the 'Time to let Wilf go' camp until a few games ago. He's either come to realise how his petulance was upsetting his game or PV has given him a serious talking to.

Whatever's happened, he's a changed man recently and all the better for it. I now hope he stays and becomes a member of the coaching team when he stops playing.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

It's worth remembering Wilf has been one of the most fouled players over the years. So many penalties and free kicks have not been awarded to him that I can understand why he gets pissed off these days and over-reacts. The man has too much class for us to show him the door. A few injuries and we'll be glad we kept him. Let him see out his contract and then nature will take its course as the younger players come on.

His volatility when he was younger and quicker were sometimes positives in motivating him. Rather like John McEnroe who seemed to thrive from his tantrums and played unbeatable tennis from his adrenalin.

Now Wilf seems to have calmed down last few games I think he is playing his best football for a long time.

I really thought he had lost his marbles at AFCON, a complete embarrassment picking fights and unable to control the ball.

He seems quite transformed, long may it last.

I was one of those who would have been happy to see Wilf move on but his transformation (in attitude and application) since Afcon has been a revelation and if he can this new Wilf attitude etc., then I'm more than happy for him to see out his contract and get an extension to it if he wants to stay.

It must be a great releif to Parish, Dougie, Wilf himself and everybody at CPFC that your more than happy to let one of the best players to ever pull on a Palace shirt stay on at the club. Thankyou.

Presumably you are being facetious because you have nothing constructive to say.
