Why isn’t Zaha playing for the Ivory Coast in the Olympics?

An Olympics squad is limited on how many over 23's they can have in it. It's also not very highly thought of by most football professionals and so Wilf may well have said he does not want to go. He may feel that if he went he would have missed out on all the pre-season work with the new manager and that would be too detrimental to his season and/or if he was out in Tokyo then he is too removed if any clubs come in for him.

I think the jury is out, i think it is possible with another couple of signings, for me RB and mobile quick CF is needed, Callum Wilson would have been perfect for our new style, i am more excited about this season than any for years, fingers crossed.

Sorry to be a kill-joy, but after the last few seasons that ain't saying much!

On the other hand going by the majority of the clubs history, it’s says quiet a lot.

How can anyone possibly new what our new style is yet? I doubt Vieria has it nailed down yet, let alone the fans.

Also factor that African cup of nations is from Jan 2022 for a month. He may have factored being away for that in consideration too

If you had bothered to read or listen to Viera's press conferences he says his style is quick passing under control, one touch, get the ball under control to our danger players as he calls them as quick as possible, not sideways passing for the sake of it or hoofing it up to a carthorse CF

I don’t recall him saying anything about hoofing it up to a cart horse CF, but I may of missed it.

We haven’t the players to play a quick passing game, the current reality is, we have signed an injured winger and a CB, that isn’t going to change our style overnight.

Any transition will have to be gradual, with some sorry Saturdays , on the way .
At this moment in time the squad would find playing in any style and winning a challenge. Hopefully this will alter by the end of the window. It has to as if you loose eight players, from your squad , one a loan, plus another important player seriously injured, You must do some serious shopping .All of those players were in use at various times in the last two seasons depending on the injury list. And the gaps they leave must in the main part be filled ,if we are not to end up giving a game to the kit man. Before any one says that’s far fetched, it is, but only by a small margin .

The expectations of some are unrealistic, to think we are going to all of a sudden play quick forward passing every game from the start of the season is fanciful.
It will take time to gel any new players into the team, all we can hope is that PV doesn’t go down the FDB route. This season is going to be a hard slog, if we survive, then the following season we will be nearer the style he wants to play.

Of course we are not going to play like the Harlem Globetrotters, but as you can see there was a significant change of style in the Walsall Game, it will take time, but that is where Viera is going style wise, a couple of new signings or loans before the season starts is needed
