The only thing Ron Noades cared about was himself. He knew Goldberg could never make it work and so rather than find a buyer who could actually take the club forward he kept the assets on a crazy leaseback basis that was of total disadvantage to the club and basically lined his pockets. Goldberg was an imbecile to do it, which at the time I found hard to understand. He ran a very profitable staff recruitment firm from an office in Bromley where I worked a couple floors above at the time. All his business acumen seemed to evaporate!
It was one of the most disastrous events in the clubs history and one that took years to put right.
I agree with the comments about him selling off all the decent players and then money went back to him, not into the club.

A lot of time has passed since those days so my recollection might be somewhat awry but I will assert what I believe Noades mentioned.

Noades said he was informed that CPFC was valued at £18 Mill but to sell shares for £10 Mill making the total value £28 Mill
Goldberg offered £30 mill but came up with I think nearly £23 Mill.

Noades said he would throw in freehold of ground as package on 5 yr deal but this never worked out.
Noades said that at completion Goldberg only had £18 Mill so he lent him £5 Mill to complete the deal.
Noades offered to stay on for 1 year to allow Goldberg to settle in but Goldberg wanted to run the club straight away.

This is my recollection of Noades account of events and with the passage of time it might not be wholly accurate.

Dunno if this has been mentioned, apologies if it has, but with Parish adamant he retains control, I'd assume the Americans couldn't sell to just one buyer as they would own more than Parish? Finding 2 buyers who would have to take equal shares and not have overall say on the club will be hard, surely?

Parish, Harris and Blitzer each own 18% so Harris and Blitzer have 36% to Parish's 18%.Parish might run the club on a day-to-day basis but he doesn't retain overall control.

It was reported on BBC that the Qatari consortium that owns PSG were looking at possibility of buying a Premier League club. If true would certainly solve our lack of transfer funds and investment for new stand.

If you read the article rules preclude ownership of 2 clubs in the ECL. I know what youre thinking but with those resources making top 4 and qualification would be achievable. Thus unless they are proposing to sell PSG (they wont) I suspect this is mere paper filler.

I thought the same and then I realised that there are 2 London clubs who are bigger than us and might sell.

Chelsea because the owner is not allowed in the country.

West Ham if the price is right they would sell their grandma.

This is my point though. If a suiter buys Blitzer and Harris they'd have overall control, which is not what Parish would want.

I remember Noades asset stripping the club to the point where he nicked the lawn mowers so I don't know where you're getting this white knight image from.

He saw an idiot he could rinse 30m out of (there's no way he got short changed like you suggest) and sold the club without second thought, knowing he'd bankrupt the buyer and jeopardise the club.
He retained ownership of the ground to rape us on the ground rent and force the inevitable collapse of the club and then he would have a nice chunk of real estate in London. Jordan duped him into its sale by using a vehicle company which Noades believed would do this very thing.

The bloke was a category 1 c*** whose actions were so malicious as to go beyond normal business practice that it's hard to imagine that he held CPFC and it's fans in nothing but contempt.

If the club does get sold I hope it is not to some wealthy tyrants like the Qatari Royal Family. Parish has his flaws but he doesn't advocate stoning adulterers and gay people to death. A club like ours is much better in the hands of people who care about the club and the community, in my opinion.

Don’t they own 30% of Sainsbury’s?

You went there... but what law makes those despicable actions legal again?
