This is down from memory, so i could have mistakes.
Halloway in the prem, scattergun approach too many to list, Gayle being the top signing, chamakh, hunt, kebe, etc but we also lost Zaha. Holoway - is style is attacking - on pitch it just wasn't working.

Pulis signed: Dann, Ledley, Puncheon and Hennessey, Hangeland, Kelly and Campbell. Paid out, but then got it back.

We can see where Pulis was going with this, sensible buys, just to get us over the line without busting the bank - They suited his style with punch and Dann being fan favs. Solid defense and counter attack.

Warnock comes in on a two year contract - brings in on loan Zaha.
Warnock let go early. Paid out.
Lost money on warnock, not really changed the squad too much. Nothing changed too much.

Pardew, 3 year contract and they also paid 3.5 million to newcastle. Cabaye, Mandanda, Benteke, Townsend, Adebayor, Mutch. We lost a couple of characters - Jedi, Yaniick, FFS.
Wanted to play expansive football, a couple of signings showed that intent. It never really worked out - pardew just wasn't up to it.

After that Steve Parish said Pardew's "expansive style of football hasn't worked", and, "Now we're going to wind the dial back the other way."

Big Sam - must have been a hefty wage, 3 years at 2.5?? Signs Schlupp, PVA, Sakho? Millivojevic.
He has come in, worked on the defense, sets signings to accommodate that - so the pardew era scratched off, all those signings, weren't really needed as didn't perform no better than what Pulis had.

FDB: Reidwald, loans RLC, TFM probably given a nice contract too. Sacked after a month.
Not much to say.

Roy. worked wonders with 3 managers worth of players, signs two players in january that didn't even feature, a keeper ditto and an expensive norwegian kid.

Pardew royally messed us up and the contingency plan was, in my mind to rectify things this summer - identify who stays, who goes, what.s needed to bolster.

That doesn't look like it. It looks like 'oh we need ya but can't afford ya, oh by then' and 'hmmm who is cheap and will wanna come to us'.

This summer was the summer to spend the money so we got to 40 points in a good manner, and then summer after, slight adjustments. Rather than every two years, massive over haul.

The bold players - expensive and Sakho was billed as a necessity and a must buy.

I think had Pulis stayed one more season - which he may well have done if things were different, we would be in a different spot now i am sure.

I wouldn’t be so sure if Pulis had stayed one more season we’d be in a better. Probably a different one as you say but not guaranteed to be better. He didn’t want Zaha and the Pulis effect blew up at WBA.

It was really gutting what Pulis did but he suffered financially for it. The real issue imo was hanging onto Pardew too long, not signing a left back or even scouting for one in the summer and then paying a premium for 2 when we could’ve originally signed 1 for a premium survived the season without those amateurish performances at hull, Swansea etc and scouted for a cheaper one the next summer. But then Parish May have kept Pardew in for longer.

Then there’s the similar blinding error with FDB that became apparent 3 weeks into his role with Parish away on 7 holidays without tapping Frank on the shoulder and asking him if he’s sure after saying one thing and doing another.

Whatever, now we simply have to get people in for the middle of the park and not Rach or Jakip level signings or we’re in trouble and so is their investment.

I agree, but I'm not sure we can spend 10M on players who cannot (at least on paper) have an immediate impact. It's hard to see how we can spend 10M on people that we then send out to face Margate or Bromley.

The top clubs do spend a lot/year for young talents, but that money doesn't come out of the main transfer budget and they've got a better loan system to make sure those players gain experience (of course, Chelsea is a negative/extreme example of that).

If we have 10M to spend, I'd say spend it on senior players. But to get 2-3 good senior players for roughly 3-5M each takes good scouting and having good connections in second-tier European leagues (e.g. Belgium, Greece, Austria etc.). Fat Sam did a good job finding Luka, we should be doing more of that. But then again, Luka was 11-12M, so that standard of player seems out of reach at the moment.

I bet it’s not to replace Cabaye. If we were prepared to spend £16 mil or more wasn’t it on Adamou with FFP looming to survive last season then we’re surely prepared to pay £10 mil to survive this summer because if not we’ll be spending £20-£25 mil in January. Remember I’ve said that. We have obvious form there.

Forgive me if I’m a little off the mark here. Yes Hodgson has said that there is very little money on transfers and is looking at the loan market. IF Palace’s financial woes are as bad as some are suggesting on this website surely the likes of Sky Sports who like a good doom and gloom story the BBC and every other sports
Journalist would be hounding, Steve Parish, board members, players and anyone connected to the club for updates on that one off scoop story regarding the club has money problems. Also taking into account the papers, especially the Daily Mirror who would jump at the chance of writing and persistently write about Palace’s downfalls, but all they seem to be writing about is the immediate signing of Baracar.
Again If Palace’s money problems are this bad don’t you think that the FA would have had prior knowledge after viewing their accounts, surely by now we would have all known that there is some serious money problems to the point of being hit with a points deduction. The FA would not let Palace play in the 2018-19 season if they could not fulfill their financial obligations. WHY would Steve Parish the board waste their time and effort fighting and planning for this new stand if the club was going to the wall. I also think that Steve Parish has a little more respect for the Palace fans and would put some sort of statement regarding these issues.

We know that there are some three weeks to go before the window closes and that loan signings look highly likely,or some last minute activity in the usual Parish style.

Meanwhile, Brighton have virtually completed their window activity with no less than six new signings.

They are only in their second PL season though so you'd expect a bit more activity than us, but that doesn't mean we don't have work to do in the midfield as a minimum.

Palace haven’t got money problems, don’t know where you got that from. You make it sound as if, we are millions of pounds in debt and the taxman wants to close us down.
Prudent managing of spending and wages are required that’s all. As Parish has said on many occasions, if we don’t expand the ground to generate more income, we aren’t going to able to compete on an equal basis.
It’s not that difficult to understand.

This post doesn’t contain any sensationalism. How disappointing.

It Seems To me that they are all playing their Cards close to their Chest....which likely means that nothing they are trying is coming off. I'd be surprised if no approaches had been made to anyone, whether these are Serious offers, who knows.
Another stressful window - I'd hope for a few deals to come out of it, but I am not holding out much hope that they would be game changing. I just want to make sure that we replace YC. My only worry is that we're putting all our eggs in the RLC Basket.

LOL. Where he got that from is RH, SP and the media engine behind the club.

Please cast your mind back to the schoolboy pursuit of Mamadou Sakho. Parish said 50 times in all forms of media that we cannot possibly afford Sakho. "Way too much money, not gonna happen" etc etc.

Lo and behold come the end of the window, we sign Sakho in a multi million pound deal.

Has it occurred to anyone here that Parish is putting a plan so intelligent and devious into place that Trump himself would be proud of it? He tried it on Liverpool with Sakho and maybe it saved him a mil or 2. So now Suave Steve thinks that if you get everyone to sing from the "we are broke" hymn sheet, even the dependable and upright RH who never lies, then all the clubs who own players we want to sign might sit up and take notice.

I think Baldrick would call this a cunning plan.

Simple fact is we may sign 40-50m quids worth of players at the end of this window, or none at all. You just dont know with this football club because our management of transfers is so erratic and all over the place.

Trump lost. Badly. Hahahahahahaha.

I'm increasingly thinking that we've just got nothing to spend rather than this simply being the usual Palace delaying until the end of the window. I reckon we'll struggle through to January and then stretch the finances for a couple more panic buys where we pay excessive prices and stupid wages.
