I see this appointment as stop gap (in the true sense of the meaning) If the board can also get someone in to work alongside Hodgson & take over the reigns in a year or two, a smooth passing of the baton if you like.

Of course it is a short term appointment however I think he is what we need at present. It is a shame that DF was brought in as director of football as Roy Hodgson would have been very good in this role and could have moved into it when his track suit days are over

Too many people I feel have been soured by the Euro 2016 debarcle

England have been a joke on the international scene for a while now Roy was just foolish enough to get involved, as most Englishman would be.

He's enjoyed success in the Premier league with clubs of a similar stature and abroad also, Roy's a Palace fan and still very passionate about football.

People are a bit to harsh on us in footballing analysis as although we traditionally play counter attacking football we have some decent technical and attacking flair players; Wilf, Big Ben, Andros, RLC, Cabaye, Luka etc. They and the rest were never suited to FdBs approach which I will refute as 'total football' but are more than capable of producing.

This lot playing in front of a solidified, Sakho included defence are easily a mid table team!

I am really surprisingly optimistic about this, happy to have you Roy just take a basic, pragmatic, logical approach to managing this team, which I'm sure Roy will do, and we'll be fine!

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Now that is quite funny. A room 101, while being played videos of wayne saving shots and claiming crosses

Quite right.

But I think Parish needs to take on board that this is not a good thing for him or the board.

There must be some blame on both sides, but Mr Parish has form, and the way past managers have departed is not a coincidence. He should think about changing the way he controls things, and the way the club plays its last-minute games at transfer windows.

That being said, I think this is the best first team ever - though not squad - and us capable of getting to top ten, and this season.

If we stay up it will not be a bad thing for Steve or the board and none of us will give Frank a second thought.

I agree the squad is a good one , don't know about top ten because we have given our rivals a four game start , not just in points, but in preparation so this will be a long hard season already.
If we finish in the top flight Roy will have done well. If we don't well we were going down anyway.

That is a massive exaggeration. If we won Saturday by 2 goals and other results went our way we'd immediately be out the bottom 3. Then lets say we park the bus against City, United and Chelsea and get 2 points out of those three games. Hypathetical but possible. We'd then be within striking distance of 12th/13th/14th with easier games coming up. Keep a bit of consistency going and we would definitely be mid table well before Christmas comes around.
I'm not saying we haven't made it hard for ourselves. We have, of course we have but lets not overreact. We can climb the table quite quickly at this stage of the season. I'd rather lose 4 on the trot at the beginning of the season than in the run in and still needing points.
The key I agree is to get someone in who knows how to squeeze every last drop out of what we have. AND for the board to learn from their mistakes and support that manager with whatever he needs in January.

in fact I didn't say it
Sam Allardyce said it
And he's right
Remember all the great results we kept getting last year and it took us FOREVER to pull clear
Remember , yes we may pick up points , but potentially because of that clown FDB we have given the others a 4 game start

Might just be a rumoour but I understand Roy has gone.

Parked his car to close to that of a senior player whilst others weren't impressed with his choice of leisure wear at the first training session.

Players went to Parish to discuss and SP decided better to move now than let these things fester.

Big Sam came out 3 seconds later to declare he isn't interested in the job.

I for one would like to thank RH for saving our club from what looked like an impossible position back in September. For me, we are now playing some of the best football we have seen a Selhurst for years, so many thanks Roy. Would love to see him in charge next season and would bet the majority of fans would say the same?
