yes 9 men...still more players than we had on the pitch

To be fair, we started with 9 men. We had Punch and Ward in out line up !

Poor performance but only FdB's first game. Was always going to take time to play this new formation.
How much time do we have though..?

Another 37 games.

Ward made a brilliant tackle to deny HT a goal, risking giving away a penalty.

Chelsea aside we're the laughing stock of the PL.

Thrashed at home to a newly promoted team. Chucked the whole of our pre-season in the bin by playing too many out of position and bringing in a player who didn't feature once.

Can't understand what the manager was expecting. Embarrassing.

Thank god its early days!

Playing promoted teams is always hard, they always come with a hunger to prove themselves and the premier league team usually underestimates them. When we came up we gave Spurs an absolute torrid time and only lost to a dodgy pen decision. That said, we looked very disjointed but then what do we expect playing Ward as RWB and Punch to pull the passes. Cabaye needs to be back in the side and our midfield due need to contain RLC, Cabaye or Milo. We need an attacking RWB asap too, oh and a leader at the back please. Maybe a keeper too? Backup striker? Too much to ask?!!

This! I was delighted with the de boer appointment, but I thought pre season and recruitment has been a shambles. And I'm usually positive!! We've spent to much time with stupid formation, and not getting the players fit and raring to go!

So did Fosu-Mensah, Ward also scored an own goal though and didn't do a lot else. I'd have rather Fosu-Mensah was wide right and Ward RCB if he has to play.

Why is Joel Ward still playing for us? Over the last several seasons I've lost count of the amount of times he's cost us games. Not a premier league defender!!!! Too slow, always out of position and cannot read the game. Right back needed desperately. RLC was superb.....we need cabaye and mac fit because punch is dog toffee.

Obviously not a good performance, but it is a blessing in disguise. Some players aren't up to it, Puncheons days are numbered along with Ward.
Its only the first game, Huddersfield had the promotion bounce and played very well and were organised with a team plan, we didn't.

I hope that newly promoted hunger thing doesn't extend to the weed tonight or we'll never hear the end of it

Yeah, but how many balls did he give away, how many crosses did he over hit. How many times was he caught in no man's land? Answer = TOO MANY TIMES !

Not quite the start i had hoped for or expected. Mr. De Boer must have learnt a lot from today. Onwards and upwards!

Can you imagine if we had played the weed today and not a team who went up via the play offs? Always a banana skin game but in truth anyone will beat us at the moment and in the foreseeable future. Unhappy time ahead for us fans I'm afraid and it shouldn't need to be if the powers that be made the right decisions after Sam left. I believe we were heading the right direction after he pulled Pardews mistakes around and now we are back to square one - I'm one unhappy Palace fan who thought things couldn't get worse after such a bad 2016. But, here we are again :-(
