So it appears that things have returned to a pre 1960's condition which is what I would have expected. So it would be fair to say that we have enjoyed a blip of home ownership in the 60's to the 90's but that is now receding. Edited by Hrolf The Ganger (22 Jun 2017 12.24pm) What an utter load of tosh. Net migration figures for the UK have been around 200k per year for the last ten years. In that same time the net population of the UK increased by 7 million, largely due to an aging population But England is hardly full up. English golf courses use an amount of land that is equivalent to one fifth of England’s total built up area (10% of England is built upon) and could provide at least eight million homes. So, a rapid reduction in golfers over 65 would be a way more legitimate argument. Edited by simonmdt (23 Jun 2017 11.48am)

I think we need to build new council housing estates run by local authorities rather than ALMO 's. Lived on a council estate till I was 9. Lots of great memories.

I lived on one called Stockwell Park Estate till I was 17. Lot of s*** memories.....where was yours? I do agree that we need much more social housing.....If governments are going to allow the population to increase at the rate it has then they have to pay the infrastructure price for it. Apparently all these massive immigration net gains are a financial net gain....Not something I've ever believed by the way. If you don't build any infrastructure to cope with increased numbers it might even out....but the real cost isn't being told.

Edited by simonmdt (23 Jun 2017 11.48am) Well if you are going to say that's a lot of tosh then I'm going to say that the contention that '10% of England is built upon' is also a statement of technical tosh. Those statistics included things like people's back gardens. If you are going to criticise someone else try not to be easily risible yourself.

Are they the same gardens that would have been taxed if the bulls*** daily mail would have you believe. (It was of course complete bollocks)

If I had different nationality parents I'd hate to have to choose. Yet you use the Daily Mail as a source when it supports your view. It makes no difference...that 'only ten percent of England' statistic is very misleading and shouldn't be cited. Yes, I know you don't see a problem with it Nick.....You and I share may share some concerns but not much when it comes to what we feel the state should represent and do.
