It wasn't straight at him. Anyway the Burnley man had plenty of time to pick his spot. If WH had moved further left he would have smashed into the right side. I don't want to get into the whole debate of judging WH as a keeper, but today he was completely exposed - twice - by the inept players in front of him.
Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes) |

Hennessey isn't sh*t. He's just not good enough at this level. Having a top notch central defensive pairing in front of him for the last couple of months has concealed his shortcomings. Apart from the Chelsea game, he really hasn't had much to do for a long time. We can, and should, find better. New keeper and right back should be top of the shopping list in August.

In which case you are beaten on the far post, but you as a keeper have an idea of where it is going then. But you get beaten on your post then it's your fault. No if's, no buts. Diving with your legs akimbo means gives way more options to a forward. If anything he got out if the way of it. He almost looks frightened to get hit, if you looon at the first goal as I don't think he is a truly atrocious goalkeeper, but by the same token he has been promoted above his station.

Total toilet. We were slow, conceded most balls in the air, and completely lost at the back. I can't think of anything positive from that game. We lost that game because of the Spurs game. Tiredness cost us

I thought today would be tough as we are not used to playing 3 games in 6 days, Burnley didn't have a midweek game. Add to that our centre back injury crisis, I thought it was on the cards today. I'd have thought PVA could have come in centre back or had 3 at the back and an extra defensive midfielder. Dropping Schlupp I thought was harsh. We don't have any options upfront. Campbell and Remy don't offer much danger

5 PL games today and no home goalscorers. Let's hope they are being saved up for tomorrow particularly at Old Trafford.

Defence at sea, crap referee. We lost it without one of our big three centre backs. Madley's decisions were just baffling. Challenge for the ball, Burnley player goes down, free kick to Burnley. Scything tackles by Burnley that take the man, not the ball - nothing for Palace. We didn't lose because of him but it made the whole thing that much sh*ttier.

Just back from the match - haven't seen the replays. So Wilf wasn't offside before Heaton smashed him down. Is that what you are saying? Originally posted by Ray in Houston
NBC studio team - Rebeca Lowe, Robbie Earle and Robbie Mustow - called it right: Heaton should have been off, that was a clear penalty on Wilf, otherwise Burnley deserved it.

No amount of bad refereeing can conceal the fact that we were clueless, toothless and deficient in all areas today. Every club suffers from capricious refs but we seem to be raising the whining about it to an art form. Edited by Cucking Funt (29 Apr 2017 8.02pm)
