Hoof Hearted 22 Oct 16 11.34am

These discussions you are having about Jesus and Nazareth etc are all well and good for those who have bought in to Christianity and believe The Bible is the gospel.

For the rest of us it is no more relevant than talking about Cain out of Emmerdale.

It was you who made the Christmas connection, old chap. And in that context, she's right. She also mentioned the flight to Egypt which, again, correctly, is another matter and another event.

I did make the christmas connection cucking to make the point that in a Christian country where the head of state and the CofE is the queen, we can be so dismissive of refugees when christianitys saviour was effectively a refugee himself...i dont want to stop people's enjoyment of christmas (i love it myself) but am aware of its real meaning i.e. goodwill to all men but in todays social climate this is forgotten by far too many IMO

I take your point on this Hoof and realise that christmas can even be offensive to atheists, humanists etc. I dont agree with christian (or any religious) fundamentalism, so am defo not saying its the only or correct way. All the major religions have major charitable themes to poor dispossessed and displaced people....i.e. to help those less fortunate....a bit like helping out those disregarded greyhounds you big hearted old hoof you!

It's not really a question of being dismissive of refugees - it's more about questioning whether a lot of the individuals involved are actually refugees at all, or are in fact economic migrants. In any event, the most effective 'goodwill' is to be able to ensure their return to a safer homeland rather than just let vast swathes into this country, often to the disadvantage of the local population.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

I think most refugees biggest aim is to go home safely cucking.....but 'vast swathes' taking advantage of the local population sounds almost 'biblical' in its sensationalism

It does, doesn't it? But then, I've always been told I have a somewhat prosaic bent.

Is it just me, or is there word missing at the end of the above sentence?

I'm all for a modern day kindertransport scheme

But as in World War II, we shouldn't let genuine kids be elbowed aside, in order to let in adults.

If the BBC had been like it is now, during World War 2, they'd be furious that we weren't letting in seven year old Adolf Eichman, a suspiciously old looking teenager called Klaus Barbie, and a teddy bear clutching Joseph Goebels

The insanity of the regressive left, scream faux outrage over dental checks but fail to bat an eyelid at the prospect of sitting 30yr old men in schools next to 13 year old girls, of course Islam doesn't have a reputation for being a bit rapey does it?

What can possibly go wrong?

1) It was the dentists themselves who said it would be unethical.

2) Why exactly would a 30 year old be sitting next to a 13 year old? Please explain.

3) All major religious texts have their rapey and incest stories. Maybe we should stop UK teachers going abroad and being around children because one part of the bible encourages a daughter to shag dad.

The potential for things to go wrong is usually in proportion to the compentency of those in control. At the moment the Home Office seem to be all over the place - so unlimited possibility right now.
