I lived next door to a couple of Jehovah's, lovely people and we still keep in touch. With these guys if one of them moved next door on Monday you'd need a restraining order by Tuesday.
It would make sense if they were passing on their concerns to SP, not sure what they expect us to do?

If you cross a Millwall fan with a Jehovah's Witness, you get someone who knocks on your door and tells you to f*ck off.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

Well Pardew is an experienced manager, with some very good pedigree, who's history tends towards runs of form, and you were sitting 10th I believe. The fact you could lose your manager to a club that was bottom and nailed on for relegation, with an on paper worse squad, lower profile and less capital, suggests that had Pardew been more popular, he might well have stayed, or at least been offered the money.

I think its a very valid, rather than absurd argument, provided one allows for hindsight, as it displays the often myopic and uninformed emotional nature of football fans, and how irrational they are.

Football fans, for some reason, have a preponderance to the idea that any change is better than the problem they perceive, without rationally addressing the problem and trying to ascertain if there is even really a problem.

They also have a tendency towards 'bias' in their evidence. Last season, in THE LEAGUE, we were poor from December onwards, but we also had an incredible FA Cup run in which the weakest opponent was Reading, a club that has a very impressive recent FA Cup form - The rest were premiership teams.

Coppell, the last manager to take Palace to an FA Cup final, had a much much easier cup run.

But when you listen to fans, they'll tell you the bits that support their case, and wilfully ignore the contributory factors. Injuries, the FA Cup and the fact that the preceding 12 months were possibly the best 12 months that the club has ever had.

You'd think to listen to some, we 'were lucky to avoid relegation'. When in fact we never even came close. Certainly there was cause for concern, but effectively we'd done enough to stay up by Dec 12th.

So that's why its relevant and not absurd, its because its rational to consider that getting shot of a manager after one game of the season, isn't even remotely for rational reasons.

Coppell had a much easier run - quote. I think the FA cup had more importance to teams than it now generates. Palace beat Liverpool, who were the dominant force in English football at the time as our 9-0 drubbing suggests. The 4-3 semi final was more 'incredible' than last years FA cup run combined.

Uhh, I gave you my source. You're making your numbers up now. Even on Wikipedia it says Newcastle United 2010-2014 38.4%, bang on what I said.

Is that what happened to that Newcastle fan's head?

I bet he doesn't know whether to spunk his pants or cry tonight. We did their biggest rivals but it made Pardew look good.

I suppose a cry-w**k is a thing.

Well the best thing I suppose is that we turned their rivals over but it makes damn all difference to them really because they're in the Championship and Sunderland being bottom won't change that fact :-)

As for Pardew I hardly think he's nailed on to get us relegated but he also isn't the bollocks, and although he got us out of jail today he also does things like starting 4-4-2 at home against Bournemouth. What really bothers me about him is when he says things like "the players sort out between themselves who is to take the penalty", when he should be setting out a (sensible) policy and the captain should be seeing it done. Today again Cabaye was fluffing free kicks when Townsend was standing there.

Be interesting to see if the anti-Pards Tooners post on here after three wins on the trot. Only choker is that Palace have just beaten both Newcastle's big local rivals.

I do agree with that to an extent. I think a manager ought to be saying "oi, silly bollocks, let someone better take the set pieces".

It's many years since Newcastle managed to beat any of their local rivals
