It'd take at least 4 years to do so and provided we remain in the Prem isnt insurmountable. The latter point being the real key to progress... Edited by Lyons550 (02 Jun 2016 6.47pm) I think you are right. There will be plenty of time to re-assess whether the plans are too ambitious. In the mean time the need for a new main stand is not disputed. Even if the capacity did not increase both main stands need replacing.

Re:capacity In 111 seasons we have spent 16 in the top flight and highest ever average is 29,900 and that was when away support could number anything from 1000 up to 10,000 at Selhurst. Is a 40,000 seat stadium for a club with that record really the right and sensible way to go?

You can talk about squeezing every penny out of match day revenue but as a fan, I would rather the ground was too small than too big.

I would look at the costs. What's the difference between developing a 35k and a 40k stadium......

Yes. If they get the pricing right we'd sell enough tickets to fill 35-40k The catchment area is big enough that if you could see PL football for £300 a season you'd have lots of people who don't currently go keen to get a ticket.

Also with a 40K stadium you increase revenue outside of just Palace home games. England U21 games, Pop Concerts, Conventions, even ground share with one of the London based Rugby union sides.

the stadium needs developing whatever league we are in the maint stand is almost 100 years old and i believe parts of it are made from wood. Arthur wait needs developing to allow for bigger concourse and a non leaking roof and tv concourse overall if we can might aswell go for 35-40k can always shut parts of the stadium of like Villa will be doing next season

Suppose it was a stupid idea them moving to the Olympic stadium.
