A talented player that Pardew bought at Newcastle for a decent fee and on big wages, he didn’t have a clue how to manage him.

I have a feeling that it was Chris Hughton who brought Ben Arfa to Newcastle on 'Loan' but then Pardew signed him on a permanent deal for £2 Mill.

No thanks. Unfit, overpaid mercenary. Not the sort of player we should be looking at. Would not be match fit till the end of Feb at the earliest.

Is it just me or will anyone else feel massively underwhelmed if the only striker we end up with in this window is Adebayor??

Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!!

Spot on, I am beginning to feel a little down beat with all this Adebayor talk and now Rumours around Betner!

Don't know if it was just me but Pardew sounded really flat when giving his press conference yesterday.

Would have preferred to see us take a punt on Afobe or Rhodes than be talking about Adebayor. Just going to be a very very expensive short term fix.

Curly eagles dad, 45 years of Palace. Never ever a dull moment, Oh Happy Days

I felt the same.
He didn't appear positive, indeed he seemed somewhat deflated.Perhaps it was the prospect of playing Man City today which affected his mood !

With relegation not a distinct possibility and only a few points away from Europe this is a golden opportunity to spend a bit get some quality and push on. I know people will say we have to be careful what we spend but with the new premier league cash next season I don't agree. It's been a strange league this year and it may be many seasons before we get a European opportunity as tangible as this. If we only get EA I will be disappointed and don't really see him as a fix just another Ameabie or Edgar David's but with a stinking attitude.
Anyway there is still time lets wait and see I guess.

Wow, I didn't even watch it, just read a transcript of it, but even then I could detect this flatness.
It just came across as him lying to himself about the situation.

You get players who move to various clubs and always give 100% - I.E. the like of Sherringham, Ferdinand, Distin, Drogba etc and then you get players who move around, get paid a lot and give some effort when they feel like it - Im afraid Adebayor is in the latter - and he has plenty of form for it. I cannot see why he would treat us any differently.Very sceptical about him as a team player.

He also had a stinking cold that makes you a bit down not feeling great. Lets hope that was the problem.

Good points. Our stock is high at the moment, so the opportunity to attract this level of quality is there. However if our season fizzles out we might not reach these heights. Looking at Pards yesterday and his comments that we are looking in a small market due to players staying at clubs gave an impression of frustration. Unfortunately even where we are at the moment the pull might not be there. Hopefully whatever happens we can maintain our level and have a better shot at the transfer window in the summer as I think we will be looking for a stop gap this window.
