Ayite has signed for Bastia so you can cross him off your list: So Rhodes can score goals in the Championship. Well so could Murray. Difference is, it will cost us over £9m to find out if Rhodes can make the step up. Loads a rumours on Slimani, none on Rhodes at the moment

Contracts mean nothing when money is on the table, just means Blackburn can command more cash for them to sell.

Dodged a very expensive bullet there. Same as Ross McCormack but more expensive and just as unproven.

Err yes they will, no premier league side even those with only half a brain, will pay the sort of money Blackburn will demand, for a player with an unproven record at a higher level, McCormack went for £11m those two are pretty much like for like. Blackburn paid ±£9m for a player valued at ±£3m, they will want a profit on the original investment. Because of his goals in the Championship and the extended contract that is exactly what they are trying to do(get a return on their investment).

You're wrong because the sort of money Blackburn will demand is irrelevant. Any club can bid whatever they want for a player and what happens next is largely down to how the player responds. If he's unsettled and agitates for a move then it make it very difficult on his club to keep him and generally forces their hand, leading to a compromise on price. I always laugh when people post things implying that one side or the other "holds all the cards". That is never true; commercial life is always a matter of finding the middle ground. Of course, it helps if you have a contract as that strengthens your bargaining position, but it doesn't mean you simply have things all your own way. Players almost always go, in the end, for fair market value. If the market deems Rhodes is worth, say, 11 million and no one is willing to pay anymore and Rhodes tells Blackburn he wants to leave then 11 million or so is what he'll go for. Blackburn wanting, say, 14 million will be neither here nor there, unless they are determined to keep an unhappy and potentially disruptive player in their ranks.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Jordan Rhodes + Ayite.' by Moose Even I was impressed by slimani actually but he seemed to lack a bit of cutting edge at time but he was always trying to get it in the back of the net at the world cup and it looks like the rest of the deals talked about on here including rhodes are dead now when it comes to strikers and apparently our "tabloid budget" is 10 mil so I agree with you on that one aswell considering origi has gone too liverpool or whatever and Man Utd only want to sell Zaha to the highest bidder it all looks fairly uncetain right now but the club do claim to have been busy aswell which kind of makes me chuckle a bit despite the 13-1 win over GAK Graz lmao!!
