To be honest Howe is the best shout for me, and would be happy with that. We have a young and fresh head(s) on the shoulder of our club, so why not have a young and exciting (and more importantly, promising) manager? I would LOVE Sir Steve to take on a role at the club...can't see him being manager for anyone again, even if it is us, but I can see him being enticed back into football if it involves Palace and a role that doesn't attract the issues he had with football towards the end of his stay at his last club. Too good to be true? Who knows? Six months ago I had no idea if I would still have a club; I'm up for anything! Who ever comes in, we need results. I don't care if we employ a Llama...as long as we stay up. Will I go anywhere if we get relegated? Course not. Will it damage the future of the damage? Hopefully not. Will it set us back? Of course. We need someone to come in and get everyone fired up. We need a character, not an ego. Everyone else mentioned is either unrealistic, or not the right person for Palace, IMHO. I'm open to any suggestions, and I have faith that the club will appoint the right man. Sir Steve (the 2nd) has said enough over the last few months to reassure us the club is in good hands, and whoever they employ will get my backing. Seriously, come the press conference, we all need to be pulling in the same direction, regardless of who they announce. Close season will get here faster than we would like, and quite frankly we need as much support and help as we can get. We're not sailing up ****creek just yet, the table is still really quite tight. Like I said, we need to get fired up; fans included.

I like this guy, he's not getting carried away with any hype of betting being halted - Dougie for Saturday Howe cool on Palace link Howe has previously taken this stance when he was approached by Peterborough last season and Southampton earlier this season, who he later rejected. The Daily Echo reported on Wednesday evening that AFC Bournemouth had given permission for Eddie Howe to speak to Crystal Palace and talks were thought start during the next 24 hours. However Howe has confirmed to the Daily Echo that he will be taking training as normal at Canford School on Thursday and that he would be in charge of the team for Saturday`s visit of League One rivals Plymouth Argyle. Bookmakers suspended betting on who would be the next Crystal Palace manager on Wednesday afternoon after a flurry of bets on Eddie Howe.

replying to your own posts is probably bad etiquette but interesting how the first poster on the Bournemouth website (linked below) viewed this latest Howe story "Well after hearing this, I have to say thanks eddie and job vaccancy on monday available. But hopefully we plan something for saturday to convince him to stay if possible. Puts more need on a big crowd. If he does leave I will be speechless and unsure of the future of the club and I am sorry to say that

We will see though, remember Howe has talked to clubs before and turned them down. However the fact that he declined to comment gives us hope.

On a Bournemouth fans forum called courtoffside many of them, understandably, don't see why Howe would want to leave a team 3rd in league 1 for a team 22nd in the championship. They do seem worried by the speculation though. I think it would be a fantastic appointment, but his loyalty to Bournemouth may prevent him wanting to leave there. Although one Bournemouth fan said something along the lines of "Why would he want to go there for, they have more financial problems than we do". Look out your window mate, we're stable now!
"I have come to love this club and still I am in love with this club" - Dougie Freedman, Palace legend. "FOR F*CK SAKE MURRAY!" 30/11/11 I was there! |

This site, and this forum in particular, has been hijacked, nay polluted, by stupid, thick ignorant w*nkers presenting f*witted rumours and supposition as 'fact', citing 'reliable sources' and other bollocks as justification. This is pissing me and others off in a big way.

Well, the logic does make sense to a degree though. He has a good chance of getting promoted to the championship with a team that he has had massive success at, whilst never having success anywhere else. I think he will stay. What if he gets relegated with palace? Its just not a logical move. Thats just my two cents anyway. I reckon we should give dougie freedman a run. He is really attached to the club, he knows the players, he's young and ambitious etc. Lets at least give freedman till the end of the season and consider our position. Aside from Freedman, I still think hughton would be great.

The counter-argument would be that Bournemouth have lost their goal-scorers, are on a slightly dodgy run and are probably unlikely to win promotion. Palace, I'd like to think, have the players and resources to stay up - and certainly to challenge for promotion should the worst happen. Where I disagree with you is Freedman. Love the bloke - he's a legend - but to appoint him for the sake of some sort of continuity seems incongruous when we've apparently identified a need for change. Of course, he's not George Burley and I'm sure his views differ slightly. Nonetheless, he was part of what has been deemed to be a failure, so it would seem strange to promote him at this time.

He's in for the interview. If he is front runner based on his CV it will come down to how Howe and Parish and presumably Martin Long get on. Steve Parish convinced Speroni of the plan for an improvement of the club and cpfc2010's PL ambitions and Julian signed when many, including me thought he would go. Mr Parish probably has a pretty good pitch. If Eddie Howe and Parish click and feel like there is a common vision for how success can be achieved it could happen Howe talking to Southampton who have cash behind them but declining to join shows a shrewd judge as the management at St Mary's does appear to be unpredictable at best with their sacking of Pardew. Also shows great loyalty to his current club which we can all respect. But Steve Parish is a very straightforward guy as we've seen on these message boards. Finances are limited but sound, funds are available but to be used prudently, the managers job I think will be well paid. I think working with him will appeal to younger talented managers who don't want to be messed around with club and financial politics - just get on with the job of creating winning football teams. If cpfc2010 feel he is the best guy for the job, offer it and he turns us down then thats the right decision all round. His heart wasn't in it. There is no affinity. He's not the guy for us. I hope he likes what he hears and feels inspired by whats possible here. From what I've heard over the last couple of days he's a great prospect and it would be a real coup having him as our manager. Exactly, well said!
