Hi all - new to Hol but have been checking this thread regularly. Dazza - I appreciate your attempt to bring some ITK knowledge. I occasionally hear ‘rumour’ from inside the club due to a vague contact (friend of a friend’s partner etc) working for the club. Some things this person ‘passes’ on have been right in the past. They were similarly confident it was Lampard a while ago. For what’s it’s worth connecting together the half decent press sources I have a theory Howe was the long-term favourite but when interviewed didn’t seem to learned from relegation. Lampard then emerged but (complete guess) I have a feeling he asked for more transfer funds once Eze was injured and was reminded it’s palace not Chelsea and the budget is restricted! That put both sides off. Then along came the Nuno rollercoaster which thanks to Dom we all know plenty about. Although all the above is disappointing I do think we escaped a potential disaster in Howe’s attacking philosophy with our slow back line, an unproven manager in Lampard (certainly of clubs our size) and avoided an expensive and eventually toxic Nuno-agent-entire staffing calamity. Favre does sound like an experienced gem if we can pull it off. I personally always thought we’d end up with Dyche! Certainly hoping Dazzas contact is right about this one!

Yes a pretty good analysis I'd say. Although I did hear that Steve Cooper had emerged as the front runner from the interviews but I think Nuno then became an option and that seemed to see Cooper slip back. Since then Favre has popped up and he looks like a good option to me, if Parish can get it done. Otherwise I suspect Cooper is the fall-back option.

betting wise Favre is between 1-2 and 1-4 with the bookies but the exchanges (i.e.Betfair) are significantly longer at 7-5 - so people are still prepared to lay and lose money on him ... if the exchange odds tumble then not long after we should hear something definite.

PS just found the William Hills odds and Favre is 8/13 - considerably bigger odds than the other bookies - Hills were always offering the best odds on Nuno coming here so they got that one spot on - and they don't fancy Favre to choose us either it seems.

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

So I manage a Workshop which provides a safe learning environment for blokes struggling with PTSD and other mental health issues. Being a Palace fan isn't listed yet. |

I think this is big news: [Link] We have a plan?! We are ambitious?! On a serious note I think we have to accept the reality that imo the delay in appointing a manager has very much been hindered by Ancelotti moving to Madrid and that creating a vacancy at Everton. I don't think steve can be blamed for that. Let's be honest any manager like Nuno or Favre, who will be a step up in manager from the likes of Ismael or Cooper is also going to be interested in the Everton job. Until the Everton job is off the table anyone who might come to us would also like to go to Everton and so will not commit to us yet. I can't see us appointing until after the Everton post is done and dusted.

The alleged positive reports on talks with LF seem to me as good news especially as Dom Fifield who has links with Palace and is also a fan works there. Maybe there may be enough time to bring some new players in. Or was that the reason for the various delays.
Enjoying getting up later and not having someone who knows better than me (apart from the missus of course). |
