It’s up to us to select who we want from a list of candidates provided. We’ve been through this: in many constituencies a lump of cheese could win provided it stood for the right party. They don’t need any qualifications or ability but when elected are magically endowed with the wisdom of the ages. That's the common perception but actually it isn't true. If you care enough you can change it. I am a member of More United, so in a small way, I am. UKIP and the Brexit party, although funded by a wealthy man, have emerged in recent times from grassroot opinion. As did the Tea Party in the USA. As I wrote a while back I really do believe we need a root and branch reform of the party system and then of the way Parliament operates. For instance I want the MP whipping system overhauled and replaced, for everything other than the budget and similar financial matters, by secret voting which remains forever secret. I have other ideas which I am still working through but I hope to see others determined to ensure we regain trust in our system and politicians.

In the extremely unlikely event that Labour under its current leadership achieve a working majority then they can, of course, put their proposals into effect and pass whatever new laws they wish. That's the way it works. I suspect we are likely to be into a period of hung Parliaments so minority governments unable to do very much other than non controversial things, or coalitions with substantial compromises needed. Unless and until either, or both, major parties move back to the centre neither will command a majority on their own. In my opinion. Read your last sentence on which I was posting.

That position also respects the vote as it respects the fact that people can become more informed and change their minds when a delay has occurred.
I was going to pen a long reply but in the end decided against it because this BS needs digesting without scorn. People can make up their own minds about how much 'respect' for the result from June 23rd these MP's have. Absolutely beautiful though. Your best work yet.

Hmmm...so it is the current situation but it isn’t true. It’s just a perception. But the current system needs to be changed.

Maybe you should become an MP then you can campaign for Remain,in Parliament instead of on here ps what is More united, an EU fan club? Edited by the silurian (27 Sep 2019 12.52pm)

Here is a great example of the liberal elites thinking. James O'Brien on LBC was speaking just to someone who had written an article about Dominic Cummings The guys tell him that all of Cummings grandparents served in the second world war and his parents were doctors for working class people in Durham. O'Brien replies "what about the positives"
