Other clubs seem to focus in on a potential appointment, based on the mass of information already available, sound him out and interview him and, if it's someone they can work with, offer him a contract. Drawing up these massive shortlists is fine, but we don't need to interview half a dozen; we should already have a good idea of who we want, based on who's history best fits our criteria. If the best fit candidate checks out at interview, bloody appoint them. Based on previous managerial recruitment exercises, we seem to find someone we like, but can't resist putting him on hold, whilst we interview half a dozen others. Would we like it if we offered the job to someone, who then said, I'll take a raincheck on that whilst I see if anything better comes up? We seem to be treating the process like you would if you we're recruiting from a bunch of strangers, based just on their application form, when in reality pretty much everything about a candidate professionally is already known. There's a lot of strong candidates out there but there's also a lot of opportunities too. If, as we all hope, we are trying to get a manger with a better pedigree than previous incumbents, then those candidates will probably have some clubs with better pedigrees than us after them. As for multiple candidates, sometimes the press will be wrong, sometimes we will get played and sometimes, the club will get it wrong. I can't think off the top of my head of many we have missed and even Silva recently doesn't seem that clear cut.

It takes as long as it takes to find the right candidate that is taking on the job in the best interests of CPFC. If that takes time then so be it. Unbelievable that after all this time and not putting a foot wrong, that people still doubt Parish, his intentions and and whether or not he is competent in doing a satisfactory job. Just extraordinary. Apart from not tin-tacking Pardew after the FA Cup final, like the winning team did, and still failing to act after the Swansea game. If we hadn't have been able to appoint Allardyce, we could well have been relegated as a result of those decisions. Edited by bexleydave (11 Jun 2017 8.37am)

Perhaps 'the right man' is taking his time too, finding about about us and seeing if he can work with our staff.

As an example seeing "to what degree they want to bring in their own coaching staff" is a fifteen minute conversation and a full and frank discussion about the future playing style is no longer than an hour either. As I said, it would be nice to hear something from the Chairman about why it is taking so long. He doesn't have to name names but even a comment that it should be sorted within the next week would be nice

We're not appointing the next Pope here; it doesn't need to be carried out in a sealed conclave. I don't expect a list of names and how their interviews went, but a general indication of where we are and the current expected timescale isn't asking too much.

Sounds like you'd appoint someone with quick Wikipedia search. Don't ever try and run a business mate
