There were large Jewish communities in Ireland before independence. Ireland turned away Jews fleeing the Nazis so I guess we're at least consistent. Largely, Mussolini was the favourite, however, helping the church like that made him an Irish hero. Most Irish knew the Nazis for what they were - and while not bothered about the fate of the Jews too much, knew Hitler would not like the Celts either. They were to be a labour class, ruled over by the Aryan British in Nazi ideology. Something perhaps familiar to some in that.

The ICC issues arrest warrants for the leaders of Hamas and Israel, claiming both have committed war crimes but no one comments! Biden leaps to Israel’s defence by suggesting there is no equivalence. Which, so far as I can tell.no has claimed there is. Only that both have committed war crimes. Not that those crimes are equivalent. It’s unlikely to have any direct impact other than limited where Netanyahu can travel but it will increase the international isolation that Israel is now subjected to.
For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally. |

The ICC are playing to the crowd as their standing is diminishing and they need some more fans. Fence and sitting come to mind.

It's all just words, with no consequences. That it won’t have any impact on Israel in the short term I agree but these things are not withdrawn and remain incumbent upon signatories to enforce. So it will impact Israel’s ability to maintain relationships and further damage its reputation.

Again...not seeing the incentive for old Netty to stop. If anything the only out for him is to go for it.....which is perverse.

Today Palestine has got official recognition, as a State, from Ireland, Spain & Norway. Maybe other countries will follow. Especially countries with a big Muslim population. France, Bulgaria, Albania, etc.....Eventually being recognised by the EU & Russia..... And we will have a proper new Country for Football, flags, passports, currency, & the Eurovision. Maybe its a step toward peace & stopping all the fighting. But then again, maybe Palace will win the Champions League. Of course the Israelis are doing their nut. I presume the police are all over it. I don't suggest having the diatribe from your local mosque translated - if you have one. I don't think you'd like it - or what they learn at "Quran" school on the weekend.
