Played well and his kicking certainly looked to be part of a plan to force an aerial battle and turn their defenders more than they’d like.

Great save second half.

Great choice by Roy. Jules had played well and done nothing to be dropped apart from his ropey booting...However, WH's kicking was vital in order to pick out the forwards and frustrate the Arse. Well done both! Showed Roy's tactics are great and Wayne is deserving of credit. Do you think a certain poster will unwrap the humble pie?...

Which particular arse was that? I thought we were playing Citeh.

All you divs come on here giving it the big one when he’s had one good game. Doesn’t undo all the s***e games he’s had for us does it? So whilst I will give him credit for having a decent game today. I will not eat humble pie and pretend that he is anywhere near the level that we need all of a sudden.

Actually two good games in a row as his last game was at the Amex, also a clean sheet!

I think your condemnation of this player is a disgrace.

Like all players he has had periods of better and of worse form. He has been our first-choice keeper for at least what, two? three? seasons and we have remained in the Premiership throughout that time, Speroni has only come back into the first team lately. Hennessey today was not "decent", he was "f***ing excellent", as was the whole defence. One of his predecessors was McCarthy who was definitely worse.

And like all players he has strengths and weaknesses. Today he was selected not because he was "better" than Speroni, or fitter, or less tired, but because his strengths were applicable to the plan for dealing with today's opponent: he was to kick long and have Benteke etc. try to win the ball upfield, rather than playing out from the back, which might have better suited Speroni. And he did it and it was effective. A clear lesson to anyone who thinks one of these two keepers should be selected at the expense of the other all the time because they think he is the "better" of the two.

Criticise with evidence if you must but have some f***ing respect.

He’s not better than McCarthy. And I’ve got every right to say what I’ve said in my last post when I’ve got wallies telling me
I should eat humble pie. Load of old bollocks.
I agree that it was good tactics by Roy today and I also think it’s been smart of him to rotate between the two goalies in his time with is so far. I just can’t stand the idiots coming on here banging their drum on the odd good game that he has, trying to paint over his sketchy past with us and pretend that he’s this amazing goalkeeper that they’ve been trying to say he is all along. We need better. We’ve always needed better and we have to go out and find better. I don’t give a s*** if you think that’s disrespectful. It’s the truth. If you don’t like that and it offends you then I’m afraid you’re going to have to learn to live with being offended. That’s just life and I’m not backing down and being an apologist for what I believe in.

Well according to our interlocutor keeping the first clean sheet anyone's kept against Citeh this season is evidence of nothing so presumably the same rules apply to everyone else.

Anyway I'm talking about McCarthy when he played for us, not McCarthy today. And that isn't the point, really.

I thought it was in the site rules that you don't come in here and slag off people who've turned out for Palace week in week out, kept their place in the side and gone through spells of poor form and come out the other side fighting.

Yeah he played well. Doesn’t mean that I have to eat humble pie and that I’m wrong in saying that we need better.
