A lot of men don't go to after work drinks either. It's just another victim-hood excuse from the feminist lobby that infects the labour party and even some on the right. Social justice warriors are basically terrible people.

What an idiot.... he NEVER thinks things through. He wants companies to ban after work drinks? How is he going to do this? Would he pass legislation to prevent some young carefree co workers going to a pub after work and having a bit of banter and winding down? Those who choose not to go to the pub do so because they would rather go home to their families... they are not discriminated against. Its a free choice... no one is forced to have kids and settle down. FFS. There was me thinking Corbyn was just highlighting how the culture in the workplace favours men. Still for some, women should be in the kitchen or bedroom anyway!

As for banning meetings:

Hell you worked in one, they are ran by females and not always to their betterment. Secondary school even? There are plenty of professions where women rule and in my career I've personally witnessed women being advantaged all the time. Edited by Stirlingsays (03 Sep 2016 1.46pm)

I should have said 'many or some workplaces'

I think Stirling has adequately answered this Gusset. And I posed the question "How did he plan to overcome this 'discrimination'?" and was pointing out the ridiculous - that he could ban after work drinking to stop it. The guy's a fool.

Edited by Stirlingsays (03 Sep 2016 1.46pm) Without doubt in the 40+ years I worked the two worst bosses I ever had were women. The first hadn't a clue how to do the work in our Dept for starters and kept calling pointless meetings to improve workflow at locations away from the workplace (to prevent interruption she said) but created unnecessary cost and disruption organising cover for signing off work and resentment from key staff who thought we were on a jolly! One of my team leaders infuriated her by suggesting that our Dept had a fire raging and that instead of putting it out with buckets of water for now we were sat around discussing the plans for building a fire engine... LOL The second wasn't very bright either and resented my problem solving skills and pragmatic approach to handling complaints. She preferred long winded, labour intensive solutions that cost more money than she was trying to save by going through formalities and was very petty. she would invite the girls round to her house for drinks/nibbles but I didn't feel discriminated against - just relieved not to have to endure her company any longer than I had to.

Best MD I had in the last quarter of my working life was a woman. She had her moments but she was intelligent, a hard worker who got on with it, recognised hard work and was very supportive of all her subordinates. The worst bosses I had were younger women who thought they knew it all, no experience "do it by the book", cliquey - belonged to all the female peer groups (throwback to Uni), call pointless meetings, back biting, brown nosing, "get it on my CV", never had it so good, hypocrites.

I'm all for equality in workplace representation. Would be great to see more women working as builders, plumbers, sewage workers, front line soldiers etc Or should we just ask for equality when it suits women. F*cking joke.

I have sort of defended him at points on here. But whether it was intentional or not he has made himself look very foolish here. As a policy speech he may have been trying to highlight culture inequality, but what he has come out of it as is someone who wants to ban after work drinks. It makes him look like a political cretin.

Do you mean it has been twisted by the media to look like this?
