No offence, but I don't give a flying fcuk about Europe and international football when I'm at selhurst watching Palace, I want us to win in a way that serves us best!! Pardew tried to change our style of play drastically and it would've ended in relegation!! We're Crystal Palace, not Ajax or Barcelona!! Edited by monkey (10 Jun 2017 7.15am) Agree

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Frank De Boer in talks!' by kenbarr I happened to watch Australia v Saudi Arabia and Brazil v Argentina over the past two days and I was shown quite graphically how both of the South American teams who do play what you describe as 'tippy tappy' football entertained 98,000 fans and scored only one goal between them.

No I think he has a valid point, although it may well be unfounded. The PL has three divisions: the tippy-tapping top six, the defend and pounce mid tablers, and the bottom feeders. Any new manager needs to understand this and where Palace fit. We currently need to consolidate what we're doing already simply to survive - or we will go down. I think that Parish saw that Pardew's attempt to change us into tippy tappy didnt work. I dont think there's anything wrong with defend and pounce - just with better players and a better coach. I ma nit davocatining Ranieri but Leicester one the PL on a pure and very effective defend and pounce style. Of the coaches apparently interviewed, I would favour Pellegrino

I wonder why he didn't last longer at Ajax? He was a legend there and yet got sacked after not very long? Also wonder if his tactics are cut out for our current set of players? Obviously I know little about either but my gut is saying pelligrino would be a better fit.

Shmidt has gone to China, so out of the running. Always suspected that money, not ambition, would decide his fate.

Very unfashionable thing to say this, but Ajax style playing from the back isnt Palace's style. We tried that with Pardew and look where it got us! I would put more confidence in a coach like Dyche who knows how to develop the'tight at the back, counterattacking style
