So Israel reject the ceasefire deal (which included the release of hostages) and proceed with their assault on Rafah instead.

Hamas had already accepted the terms of the ceasefire negotiated by Qatari and Egyptian mediators. The deal is purportedly very similar to the Egyptian proposal which was previously accepted by Israel but Netanyahu has rejected it.

"Israel's war aims are longstanding state policy where annexation is the goal, ethnic cleansing is the method and self-defence is the excuse."

Yep, it's horrible but that's pretty much the truth.

If the idea of a homeland for the Jews in Palestine...specifically for the Jews....is to be a reality this was always going to be the outcome.

Otherwise they get outbred and eventually taken over....what's the point of an Israel without it being for the Jews? Some could let their minds wonder to London and the English but hey ho.

The left/social liberals and multiculturalists believe you can force people to live together without significant majorities and it's all for the best. The truth is that you create a segregated tinder box that at some point results in a pile of bones....there it's a massive sectarian attack, here it likely would be the welfare state collapsing.

The release of hostages. This could be bodies of dead hostages. If they give the names recent videos and pictures then it’s believable that they are live hostages, not stiffs. There are at least 35 dead and these ones could be what Hamas are offering. If Israel said ok and this happened what do you think Israel should do ?
Personally if I were Israel I would stand tight, wait for the hostage release and depending if they were alive then pull out. If dead what exactly is the cease fire for?

One thing I think we can be certain of is that the time of the Palestinians in Gaza is time limited.

Israel will almost certainly be sending in settlers already into northern Gaza and be sizing up how much of it they can take before US pressure means they have to stop these attacks.....if ultimately they decide to.

Then it will be back to inch by inch house by house jobs that they already do in the West Bank. The future of these Gazans will be evacuation.

The double standards by politicians is on full display.

Fully armed 'settlers' are already in parts of Gaza selecting their land.

Not only this but I heard a UN spokesperson who is supervising the distribution of relief within Gaza say that some are obstructing the passage of trucks by placing heavy barriers across the roads. These are not nice people but they only represent a minority in Israel. Where all this will leave Israel is unclear but I don’t think they will have many friends left.

This is not going to end well. If Israel are successful in obliterating Gaza and effectively eradicating the Hamas threat, the fight just moves to other parts of the world where Jews are currently living. Israel forces will not be able to protect them.
Perhaps the plan is to ‘invite’ overseas Israelis back to the newly conquered homeland and the remaining Palestinian population is concentrated into the West Bank.

hats off to palace, they were always gonna be louder, and hate to say it but they were impressive ALL bouncing and singing.

Yes, and we weren't nice when we nuked Hiroshima or bombed Dresden.

Israel in its current guise is determined to rid itself of Hamas attacks and Palestinians in the way of Israeli expansion.

We can argue the morals all day, but the people with the biggest guns make the rules. We need to make sure that we and our allies have the biggest guns. That, sadly, is the bottom line.

Is there reliable any source for this? I am totally opposed to Israel getting away with expanding settlements into pre October massacre Gaza.

There might be a case for a permanent military presence to stop or immediately react to rockets attacks and the like.

A UN force would do except as the Balkans tragically proved peace keeping forces are useless if they don't have the authority or will to shoot and kill

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

I tend to agree. Shame our ridiculous posturing governments can't see it. In my opinion, the UK's defences need to be expanded significantly. Appeasement clearly does not work.

I didn’t suggest we were but we still kept lots of friends because we were fighting a common enemy. Israel is supported in fighting Hamas but not in attempting ethnic cleansing and land grabs. They will end up isolated, friendless and surrounded by hostility. That won’t sit well with the many reasonable and decent people who live there, so how long can the Netanyahu style survive? US politics will play a big role I suspect.

Netanyahu is concerned with the plight of Israel first and foremost.
In the future, what will matter is that Israel exists and flourishes, not how it got there.

Seeing children die is truly terrible, but if the Iranian Rahbar and his friends had their way, all Israeli children would be beheaded.

It's horrible and we shouldn't be involved in any of it.

It's a regional war where one set of people is being funded by the US and the other is being ethnically cleansed out of their native homeland. But as you rightly say, they would do the same if they could.....then again all this was imposed on them since 48.

We all know Israel understands that unless they expand they will be outbred and taken over....they know that once the boomers die off in America their support over there starts to decline quickly.....social liberals/left would see Israel as a nation for the Jews end....So this is Zionism fighting back while they hold the ascendency.

I would be happier if we had no involvement in what goes on there at all....it's a war where the majority killed are civilians and a lot of children......Why can't we be like so many other countries and stay out of wars?
