They would be voted out of office at the first opportunity. All these wild ideas ignore the fact that we always have ultimate control so no government can adopt anything so extreme and expect to get away with it. So they wouldn’t try, even if they thought it was a good idea. Which no one would.

Funny how when they erode our freedoms this line is brought up. Glad I don't have an account at Nat West. How might your freedoms be eroded? NatWest are a business. They are free to offer a service which you are free to accept or reject. No erosion of anything. Except perhaps clear thinking.

That was extreme and they got / getting away with it.

Won't be long before other banks follow NatWest. There won't be any where to switch service too. If there is a demand for a service that encourages climate change, ant-vax ideas etc then someone will provide it. That’s the commercial reality. Look at the media world. There was a demand for a Fox type TV outlet, so along came GBNews. Do you think the owners are driven by ideology or a desire to make money?

Completely untrue. I am neither in favour, nor against lockdowns and certainly not a zealot. I am open minded enough to accept that when faced with an emergency they could be seen as the least bad temporary solution. Who knows if we would adapt a similar strategy again if faced with another emergency? It would depend entirely on the actual circumstances and any lessons we learn from the previous one. People like you only want to discuss the problems that locking down created, which are all acknowledged and understood. What is forgotten are the things they protected against and what cannot be assessed is what would resulted if we had not locked down. It’s like complaining that Palace played in a boring way at Turf Moor and demanding attractive football, when they won 2-0 but would probably have lost if they tried the other strategy. It seems you either have a short memory or an overriding prejudice. One of the primary reasons we did lockdown was to avoid the collapse of the NHS. Locking down did not cause the NHS’s problems, bad as they are. It stopped them from being even worse.
