I think the political class is too big for a start.....Quangos are mostly (if not all) a crony rip off. Anyone who has followed my views knows that I generally favour decentralisation over central. I think more direct democracy can factor more into a better system....but I'm not paid to think of these things and far brighter minds could attend to that. The fog is swirling around that statement. I have no idea what is meant. How we improve the representation is another, and very big, but separate subject. One that could occupy threads here for years. On balance, I favour proportionate voting myself, because everyone feels their voice is being heard. It's easy to ridicule quangos, but much harder to find better ways of over-sight. Opening them up so that people like us can serve on them makes sense, though. I have no issues with decentralisation. I am a firm advocate of the principal of subsidiarity. Some things must be handled centrally. Some, like the current crisis, internationally, but if it's better done in the village hall, so be it. Consultation and decision-making by local people, on local issues, makes sense, as they are the experts on them. They aren't though when complex issue affecting the country as a whole need to be considered. There are obvious examples, which I have no need to spell out.

Aside from Trump the most popular Republican in the US and GOP is Florida governor Ron DeSantis. DeSantis has passed a bill that's bans teachers from introducing woke sexual and gender ideology into the classroom and hence away from the minds of little boys and girls at school. There are far too many teachers who think the classroom is the place for their politics. This has enraged leftist activists who have lied about this bill and used it as a rallying cry....because indoctrinating little children on sexual and gender ideology is precisely what they want to do. Now Disney have committed themselves to fighting to overturn it. After Disney publicly made that commitment Tucker Carlson asks DeSantis for his response.

Pretty much one of the reasons that America is destined to break in two.

Whilst certainly interesting that Carlson generates enough heat that someone wants to mute him, it is only confirmation of how divisive he is. He is deliberately so. Controversy is what he feeds on, and what he feeds to his audience. That though, doesn't mean that the USA is destined to split. It just means that another divisive presenter is feeding red meat to the masses. It's not that new is it?

He was showing what typical Democrats in the street would sign a document for today. As for America, I just think you are wrong, as you are on pretty much on everything else political.....though I'm not saying that a split is necessarily good for the west, what I am saying is that it's inevitable in some form. There is a split already. It's been there for years, but is widening. That though doesn't mean that the country will split. It may mean that individual states will pursue different social and economic policies, but the USA as a whole will stay intact

Elon Musk buys the largest individual stake in Twitter. Possibly a strike back in favour of free speech in America.

Sacramento mass shooting somehow doesn't appear to be considered a mass shooting because it was seemingly related to gang warfare.

Elon Musk offers to buy 100% of Twitter. If they don't accept his offer, he is going to pull out & tank the stock.
