Personally the most likely explanation seems to be that the original virus came from the Wuhan lab. It's presence feels, to me, to be too coincidental for it to have come from any other source but I think it was accidental. I think an accidental leak seems the most likely cause but suspect we are not ever going to be certain. Coincidences might be rare, but aren’t impossible. I don’t think there was any deliberate opportunism by the government to go cashless. They had far too much else to think about and weren’t able to cope well with that so are unlikely to have been so organised to do anything more. It was well on the way anyway and the imperatives created by the pandemic just accelerated the move.

The idea that any woman would deliberately seek sperm from an unvaccinated donor just goes to demonstrate how pervasive the misinformation about vaccines in general, and the Covid ones in particular, has been. It’s really quite sad to read such attitudes being held and even sadder when others seek to reinforce them. If I was a woman needing to rely on a sperm donor I would require the precise opposite. I would not want to run the slightest risk of being impregnated by an unvaccinated man.

I think a certain poster can rest assured that if he were a women that's it's highly likely he'd be safe from insemination from males of either vaccinated status.

The Spectator's rather critical appraisal of the covid inquiry so far. The former editor of the BMJ, who gave evidence, is not happy. Edited by Stirlingsays (06 Nov 2023 11.34am)

As I am not a woman the hypothetical personal comments can be seen in their proper context of attempting to deflect and divert from the actual point. The anti-vax movement, which has unarguably been shown to be the product of evil grifters, is not just an example of the conspiracy theory scourge which besets modern life, it is extremely dangerous to the health and well being of future generations. It needs to be called out whenever and wherever it rears its ugly head.

The Covid enquiry will take 2 years and go through many phases. Setting the political scene in its context is only a small part but needs to be done so that subsequent evaluations can be accurate. Those who want instant answers, or want their predetermined opinions confirmed, are going to be disappointed. I expect a growing tide of disillusionment and dismissal in the coming months from those who believe they already have the answers. Edited by Wisbech Eagle (06 Nov 2023 11.49am)

It needs to be called out whenever and wherever it rears its ugly head. Whilst I agree, the other end of the spectrum is to absolutely believe everything those with power; political, financial, both or otherwise, tell you and trust them/that. Most conspiracy theories are laughable, and almost all come from unreliable sources let alone evidence bases, however to think the aforementioned individuals and institutions are playing it straight 100% of the time is far more concerning IMHO. There is, always has been, and almost certainly will always be, corruption and wrongdoing at the highest levels of society. There will also be incompetence and just downright idiocy as well. Cooking up 'conspiracy theories' is just as wild as any 'OK Pluto' following along with what you're being told. A healthy scepticism and informed decision making should be the priority for individuals, not just adopting a stance and gluing yourself to that position. Shrodingers Cat is my preference, I'm not well informed enough to stand on either side of the fence, but nor is anyone else IMHO. I'll take each juncture as it comes and make decisions 'to the best of my ability'.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

It's only a conspiracy theory but I don't think it's impossible to believe, to some extent, that the situation was used to discourage cash usage, particularly with the support of both the IMF and the WEF and various banking organisations prior to 2020.

What’s not to like about being cashless? I quite often only carry my smart phone with me these days. Much easier and more comfortable. Unless you believe it’s all done by big brother to keep tabs on, and control, us.
