This could have been cleared up quite easily if Gary had stepped back and apologised for any offence he may have caused to those who are associated with the German’s actions during the 1930’s. But he didn’t. He has an air of smug superiority that he is always right and therefore no apology is due. Clarkson had the good grace to do so, as have several others who have inadvertently caused offence. But I think Gary designed his comments to be controversial; as such he should reap the ‘benefits’ of his words.

Exactly he could have stepped back from this without a grovelling apology instead he has doubled down.

Interesting analysis of the Laura Kuenssberg on the BBC website in which she is referred to as Laura and the Chancellor of the Exchequer is referred to as Hunt.

previously we were tolerant and didnt have much of an opinion.

Today ?

sick and tired of being preached at.

I still feel with the economic pressures on us all at the moment, the war in Ukraine and worries about heating costs that LGBQT issues come very low on everyone's priorities apart from the small minority of people directly affected

how do you feel about men in lipstick & dresses doing a public reading of Nursery Rhymes to kids ? in a public library ? and these are doctored Lefty nursery rhymes.

i was always tolerant of LGBTQ, but now it is looking more and more like an ideological power-grab. Sadiq Khan attempting to tell us all who is the boss.

a teacher in Ireland got thrown in jail , ultimately because his christian beliefs conflicted with the he/she/they pronoun madness.

Freedom of speech has been destroyed by the likes of Linekar. Putting a gagging order on everybody. He who lives by the gag, dies by the gag.

I guess you want classic children's cartoons like Loony Toons banned too? Characters in that were regularly in drag.

ITV to triple Lineker's wages?
And he can tweet to his hearts content.
It's almost like he's planned it.

Well if the characters were in drag, there is not a cat in hells chance of them being banned

If they are prepared to pay him £4m they have more money than sense.
Maybe he already had this offer on the table, upset people, get suspended, then possibly sacked. Large payoff from BBC and then carry on with a god-like status elsewhere.

That would be like criticising Qatar's human rights record then taking £1.6m from them. How likely is that for such a principled person?

PSA saying you "used to tolerate" gay people is really not a good look.

Firstly because no-one actually believes that. More importantly, even they did, it's not about that.

The silence is deafening - and very telling.
