This was always going to happen.. Giving Roy another 1 year was a disgraceful decision by Parish and the board that was made simply because it was the cheapest and least ambitious option.

What I couldn't get my head around was the number of people on this site who thought it was the correct appointment and that it was the best option.

Roy came in last season and hit a very easy run of games. The new Manager bounce worked but towards the end of the season the signs were there of what to expect this season. Wolves away sticks in the mind as I went to that game..

We're getting what we deserve people. If you try and do things on the cheap in The Premiership and show zero ambition it will catch up with you, which it is now doing this season.

Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!!

Roy stood there at the end gazing at the HF banner and I felt as though he must have realised that it's over. It feels like it's over. Yet I'd also be equally unsurprised if it's not.

If it is over, he only has himself to blame. He's been utterly inflexible with his tactics, predictable with his line ups and completely negative with substitutions.

His only mitigation is the injuries that we've had to key players. But even that he must share some responsibility for as he came out at the start of the season and said we should be happy with our squad, rather than pressuring Parish to invest, and has worked our key players into the ground rather than using the squad and youngsters.

Life is too short for this. It's awful to say but I dread watching us at the moment rather than looking forward to it. It's time for a change of direction.

I saw that look too and would say yours is a pretty shrewd observation.

Quite unacceptable and should we lose to Sheffield in our next game,we will be in freefall and favourites for the drop.

I don't know why I'm saying this - but I think we'll win. Maybe I'm mad.

I saw words to describe us as "Limp, listless and stale" and I suspect many of our supporters would echo these sentiments.

Time to face facts! This club is not fit for purpose and does not deserve to be in PL. There is no ambition or vision, just survival. The writing was on the wall through the last season and it was only luck and some credit to Roy that we were not relegated. But the Board went for the cheap option and asked Roy with his tunnel vision to stay for another season. Like a fool his ego got the better of him and now this is where we are. Whether we can survive again is open to question, but it is clearly time for radical change.

What about all those who were seemingly happy for us to forfeit the cup ‘concentrate’ on this game?

I believe I got a bit of pushback in suggesting we give Everton a go and forget the Arsenal game! I feel justified now

When word went around last year about giving Roy another year I did not agree with that. I also voiced my opinion that we haven't got any ambition at this club and we lack investment. Sadly in the premier league from years ago it's been about MONEY. I stated we aint had a decent striker since Murray. I got shot down in flames by some on here for those comments. It's now come back to bite us squarely on the arse. If, as I say sadly you don't spend and invest in this league you will end up going backwards.I'm not saying I told you so to everyone who slated me. This is the premier league its governed by MONEY.

One of the coaches should have prepared the squad for Troussard's too-clever blocking of Andersen on both of the winning corners. (Gabriel outplayed Richards on them, but Andersen could have reached the first and Andersen or Henderson the second.) Roy managed the game poorly:
1) Playing Tompkins was pointless.
2) Eze should have been subbed off after 70 minutes.
3) The younger players should have arrived en masse once we were down 3-0.
4) Henderson hasn't played as well as Johnstone.

But without Olise, Ayew, and, yes, Doucoure, would Alex Ferguson have managed even a draw at Emirates today?

We were very weak at the corners , as previously pointed out at almost every game we don't have a dominant ball winner in the air .Neither Andersen or Guehi are great when airborne and Richards seems lost when man marking . Henderson was weak , really weak at both corners
Roy actually set the team up OK , Arsenal didn't have a shot on target in open play until the 3rd goal when we were chasing the game .
It was only really then that the heads went down and we ended up getting a hiding .You don't see that too often with us and hopefully a one off.

And yes Johnstone should be our No 1

We have a side that has some mild potential, this much was clear in PV's first season. Regrettably it has been totally undermined by the most negative and mediocre manager imaginable.
Dear Roy, you've been found out and the BS excuses don't wash. The game is made up of balancing the various elements into a harmonious whole, put simply the transition back and forth between defence and attack - it is not possible to concentrate solely on defence and expect a positive outcome.
Unfortunately Roy's negativity seeps into the very being of those around him and this set of players will need some new direction soon if their careers are to be positively maintained. This could mean the better players leaving, or preferably a new manager with a balanced football philosophy to lift them out of the doldrums.
Roy, do us all and yourself a favour and go, before it is too late.

You are correct, and the fullback was Ahamada!!!!! and Roy hates 5 at the back, Roy and Ray should be relived of their positions, if the manager they want is available, put him in now, if not give Paddy the caretaker role, at least he will put some of the younger players in, Imray, Ozoh, Ahamada and Franca should all be starting.

This makes sense, as Parish should be preparing for life in the Championship.
