Palace...ruining weekends since 1861. Yet I still can't wait for our next game.

Have you considered that they might be under instruction from the manager not to venture too far forward too often? Roy does love his defensive "shape". Doucoure had shown very little IMO when asked the question in the final third under Vieira and had lost his way by the time PV was sacked. He's played 45 games and not managed a single goal. Lerma's obviously has had fewer games but his stats around attacking / team play aren't exactly inspiring. Don't get me wrong they're solid defensively but it's rather like just having two more defenders. The goals and guile have to come from somewhere and it feels a bit like we have another situation where we have a huge over reliance on a bit of magic from one or two players.

Extremely disappointing result losing to a very poor Luton side, who are best suited to the Championship at best.

The biggest worry for me with the way this season is going is not relegation. It is the fact that all our star players will want to leave because of the lack of progress. I am not one to slate Roy all the time but what in the name of god was he doing dropping Ayew yesterday and playing Schlupp. Ayew has been close to our best player this season. He did the same with Doucoure at Everton. He is making big decisions and they are wrong. Edited by EddieMac (26 Nov 2023 1.36pm) Ayew had a long and arduous journey returning from International Duty. Therefore he started on the bench.

It’s all just v depressing I’ve just seen Olise’s goal - fantastic. Yet for the second week in a row we couldn’t keep out a team - with not much real attacking threat - for the last ten minutes and see the game out. Sort it out Roy that’s your job and what you talk about all the time.

I'm normally the last person to defend Roy, but what options does he have as the side virtually picks itself? We finished last season well, even without Zaha, and this has possibly led to some complacency from the board around the need for strengthening.

Thinking about how Luton might play against us. Thinking we have weaknesses at FB and how to mitigate that (against Luton FFS). Analysing what went wrong against Everton. Fixing it. Having a plan B.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |
