It's all well and good looking admirably(or warily) at how other clubs Are run, how much their spending, What their stadiums like, who they are buying, but you must remember each club will have different incomings, outgoings, squad requirements, and will be in a different FFP situation. Councils are different, catchment areas different, fanbase, proximity To other clubs etc etc etc all combines to give each club it's own unique restraints and situation. I trust SP & co to be doing the right thing based on the challenges facing our club. Of course they are going to make mistakes, and please call them out - it is a discussion forum afterall - but I have no doubt their priority is to make CPFC a better club all round, and in that(as our league position and longevity has shown) they are doing a pretty good job.

I'm not overcomplicating anything, you are oversimplifying things rather than addressing the evidence. How many PL clubs outside of the top six have two good players for each position? Well we have 3 for 4 positions, so just 1 good one will do, but I'll settle for 4 poor ones. Actually that's being harsh on Mitchell, he's average.

I have no doubts in the slightest that parish wants the best for the club, the other 3 I have massive doubts.

Ward and Clyne can play there, so can Schlupp, so can Riedewald. It's not the first-choice position for any of them (though the latter was brought in as a left-sided defender), but it's not like only having one goalkeeper is it? Again, can you point to a PL side outside of the top six that regularly has two good (i.e. PL quality) specialist players for each position?

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |

That involves both reading and counting by the way, if you were thinking of doing likewise.

We know exactly what will happen if Mitchell gets injured, ward will go to lb and Clyne will go to rb, so we will have 2 poor full backs and then as cover, players who will be playing out of position. Its so plainly obvious where we need to strengthen. If we want to talk about other clubs. Everton have a problem scoring goals, oh look they've just spent 25 mill on a striker, we have a problem scoring goals, we've just spent 20 on a goalkeeper. Its baffling

Its baffling Everton seem to spend 20-25 mill on a striker every season and still haven't found a good one (remember they beat us to Tosun's signature - thank God), and they bought Pickford to be their No 1 keeper who still holds down the England spot. And Everton supporters remain more baffled than us.
Living down here does have some advantages. At least you can see them cry. |

Well that's essentially it. I have no qualms in people mocking/criticising Parish for a variety of reasons - even bad, footballing decision making but I find it very hard to believe it is not in his personal and financial interest for us to do as well as possible let alone any deliberate skullduggery. We look to be a slow crawler in terms of progress, for a variety of reasons out of anyone's hands beyond a playboy billionaire, and things could be a lot worse. We are progressing however and enjoying a very healthy period as a football club, if not our best ever. I fully welcome or even encourage any footballing moans, desires/dreams no matter how ludicrous and any other discussion based in reality, but it has to be that. Let's hope for some movement before the end of the window and if not accept that fact and perhaps sensible explanation for it not happening, criticising within the realms of reason. A RB, potentially a LB, cover in central defence, a winger and a striker would be nice. We won't see that or perhaps even close but if so c'est la vie, we'll be alright this season I have some faith there at least and we'll see how the land lies in Jan. and end of season once more.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |
