Just watched the MOTD highlights:

Loved seeing Roy, suit, collar and tie, making his way to the bench with his overcoat over his arm. Class!

That header by Jordan was top class. For me it's up there with the best Palace headed goals, particularly with the work Olisé had to do to get the cross in.

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

With no bias or inference intended - how do people think that game would have gone had Wilf been playing?
Better?
Worse?
Or the same?

With the butterfly effect, it really is impossible to say. However my stab is that we might have had a bit better shape and not been so overrun in the first half. But then we 'drew: the first half anyway. Second half we hopefully would have cut loose and taken the win, but probably not scoring 4 goals.

That Roy Hodgson fella is available has has a 100% win record this year,do you know of anyone good enough to tie his boot laces?

What this could mean is that Roy and ray stay on until paddy is ready to take over

Yes, that's probably right.
Maybe the players are accepting he might not be here next season but in the last two games they've played with more confidence than previously when he wasn't available.

I think this maybe the plan … and I’d be all for it

My guess and only my opinion is worse, Wilf would have turned it into a him vs Ayling show and stroping and sulking everytime he got fouled, i think as a team we played better overall without him. Ronaldo has the same affect on every team he plays for .

Reference the Ayew header anyone remember Dickie Dowsett? Best header of the ball I have seen at Selhurst Park over all the years I have been supporting them. Sadly died of dementia in 2020.

Undoubtedly worse. This season he hasn't had the influence on games that he has been capable of in the past. I note that when he got was previously injured under PV we drew 3 straight games; when he returned we lost 3 straight games. After his most recent injury against Leicester we go on to score 2 to win the game. Yesterday we scored 5 without him. I think the day of his particular style of selfish play has come and gone, it was a joy to watch a more balanced team-orientated style of play yesterday.

I recall Dickie Dowsett at our club in the 60s.He was not overly tall but was renowned for his heading ability.

I think that in the first instance the emphasis of the attack would have been all down the left as usual and there would have been little prospect of Olise getting any assists let alone three. What his absence has done is enable Olise (and Eze) to flourish.

Plus when the ball did go down the left he would have slowed the attack to walking pace as so often and given the defence time to get back so he could then try to dribble through them all. The pace of Palace attacks in the second half without him was devastating.

Plus some of the attacks went down the centre. Again I think if he was there it would have gone left every time and lost the directness. We are definitely over the “cannot win without Zaha” notion as we will have to be next season.

I got vision, and the rest of the world wears bifocals.

The fact that we flourished without him will have been noticed by potential employers ie he is less attractive.
If he doesn't go, paying him £200k pw now seems absurd.

He's been our player of the decade and he could still play a part but I feel he needs an attitude change to blend in.

I have now sufficient funds to last me the rest of my life. Provided I don't buy anything.
