Doucoure is fine for Ligue 1, but out of his depth in the Premiership, 22.6m wasted

To be brutally honesty I have been disappointed with Doucoure.
Allegedly, he was a player that Vieira really wanted at the club.

There was a breath of fresh air when Vieira was appointed and we played much more progressive football than we did during the era of Mr Hodgson.

Sadly we now smell the stench of stale air as the team has alarmingly gone into 'Reverse gear' with damaging statistics and performances which leave a great deal to be desired.

You say that with such certainty, yet we are in 12th place, with an "easier" run in at the end of the season. I don't think we'll be relegated, not this season anyway. At the beginning of the season I had us to finish 15/1th based on the lack of reinforcements in areas that were obviously weak. Those areas still need some work, full backs in particular. We'll be treading water for sometime yet I suspect, unless something dramatic happens in the boardroom.
Whether PV will still be with us is moot. His problem is that he has in mind a style he would like to see, but can't achieve that here with the likes of Schlupp, Ayew, Eze, Mateta etc. Pragmatism required.

Exactly, that is what makes him crap, with the size of club we are you have to fit the style with the players, not the players to the style.

Ridiculous statement, Hodgson and Vieira are chalk and cheese, Roy's sides were always highly organised, defend, defend, defend, respect the point, counter attack, boring, but effective, and Roy had a far worse squad than PV has now

Perhaps you missed my point, or I didn't explain it well enough.

Hodgson and PV may be chalk and cheese, but the overall experience of watching Palace at the moment is the same - one of frustration ( and shared by the majority at yesterday's game). I watch matches where we never look like winning, are toothless up front, where we continually concede possession, rarely dominate the opposition at any time in a game, and feed on scraps.

This is a key point. Managers all have their idea as to how their team should play but you can only work with the players you have.

Dave Bassett used to say he played the long ball out of necessity that he would love to play like a Man United but didn't have the players.

I am starting to doubt PV.

Under Hodgson the players did work hard and the team played with energy Roy was a pragmatist. That is currently lacking and I don't think it is lazy players but tactics.

A great striker will score a goal with one chance, a good striker may need 2/3 chances to score. We need to increase the number of chances are strikers get we could start by crossing the ball a bit more and by counter attacking at pace.

Just watched the game and concur with what most of you have said. We may have enough of a gap to survive but look pretty much the worst team in the division.
Vieira really should go. He showed absolutely no emotion when we scored. Zilch. And there was an article in the Athletic the other day where he bemoaned the lack of black managers. It's a fair point but it came across as though he was daring Palace to sack him.

Bielsa would probably come if we hired him as soon as the season ended, He'd get the team running and we have some younger players he would probably welcome working with

I honestly think PV is messing about with ideas trying to find a solution, the problem being he has messed around so much no none knows what their job is or how to play it. He looks a confused and lost manager. I would have really liked Dyche at Palace but I think he’ll do a good job at Everton and be there for a couple of seasons as I cannot see them being relegated with him in charge.

On current form I would say we are third favourites to be relegated.

Its not that i dont like him . he is useless at all aspects of the role of manager, all our players have deteriorated under Vieira, and the new buy and the loan dont look like what was needed, and i cant believe PV didnt have any input into the new players.

So you've passed judgement based upon what exactly ?

PV said that he thought we would benefit from some experience in midfield. The club presented him with two players that have very little and none.

So you would employ a manager that was sacked last season when it looked like he was taking Leeds into the Championship. Incredible

We are in decline and the manager is annoying me by his apparent 'satisfaction' and 'we were well organised' comments, etc.

He is either an idiot or very naive and it is worrying that he seems to have zero motivation skills.

When someone (Derry) speaks out he gets the boot. Also worrying is he seems to be following the trend at all his previous clubs - a promising start and then a slow (and terminal) decline.

On the bright (!) side we have got 3 more points than predicted from our games v. United, Newcastle and Brighton so we must be thankful for that .....

1. Which of our fans was on VAR duty yesterday? Well done lad. After all it was Brighton.
2. who paid Sanchez a big backhander?

Basically, we were awful and yet that's now 7 unbeaten against them.

On a more serious note, I was shocked at Vieira's post match interpretation of our performance. In previous matches where we have played poorly, he's not pretended otherwise and has said it as it was.

I'm quickening my pace towards:
- the does he know what he's doing camp? and
- do the players understand his tactics and what they're supposed to be doing camp?

Worrying times and our next match is against a team on a 10 match unbeaten run which includes wins over Citeh and Liverpool and draws against the two North London clubs. Hmmmm...

I do understand those doubting or starting to doubt Vieira.

It's a results business, and they haven't been good enough recently.

However, I've referred to it before, but our current situation is much the same as Potter's second season at Brighton. And they were struggling near the bottom, not halfway up the table. A lot of their fans wanted him sacked - didn't agree with his team selections, tactics etc etc. At the end of that season it would have been a relatively easy decision to sack him. They didn't, instead they backed him and we all know what happened next.

So if the club keep faith with PV, and I hope they do, I;d like to see him receive more backing in the summer.

I think there are a number of disconnects running throughout Palace at the moment. And they start at the top.
