You’re so far off the mark it’s laughable. Luka is technically very good. He’s got the quality on the ball - it’s the physical demands he struggles with nowadays. Gets caught out for pace etc. He played very well when he came on against Leicester. No he didn't. He didn't play awful either. Except when he went to ground on Maddison and let them in. That almost cost us the game.

Definitely our worst performance of the season. I thought only Guita Guehi and Anderson played half decent. If our forward players are marked then someone form midfield has to run in behind to make space. This is the sort of game that high lights that we don't have a player with similar attributes to Conor Gallager who did this for us at times last year. I also thought our full backs did not push on enough as they might have if we had conceded a goal.

The MOD pundits described us as 'poor'. And the midfield was dissected unmercifully, 5 players taken out by a pass. So how did we shut out Maddison & Co.? Our defending especially Guita did not give much away, although they really should have scored a couple. Zero goals conceded away from home not to be sneezed at, a very forgettable odd game. It was just a poor game all round with two teams seemingly agreeing a point apiece would be a good day at the office . The MOD pundits described the game as poor rather than just us and thought they should have edged it which was crappo . Every chance they had would have been ruled out by VAR for offside and even the much replayed Barnes run started off with the ball coming off his hand . Decent point yes but dissapointed as they were there for the taking .

These are all very valid points, our recruiting has been poor for sometime now, we do not seem to be able to get transfers over the line and lose out to our competitors Gibbs-White is one example but there have been many others and to be fair to PV he has made it clear what he wanted last T/W but only really got Doucoure so I guess DF has to stand up and be counted as we are weak at getting good value talent unlike the clubs mentioned.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Faes was given the man of the match award by the BT Sport commentators. Which is interesting given that we offered no attacking threat whatsoever.

The team played like they were hungover, taking too long on the ball and misplacing far too many passes. Although Jairo wasn't tested defensively, his composure and ability on the ball shone through when he came on. Some players you really root for and he's one of them, although ultimately I struggle to see him ever being a regular. We tend to do ok against Wolves as they don't generally press teams, which seems to suit us. Fingers crossed we play infinitely better tomorrow night. With regard to Wilf, has he had a good game since the transfer window closed? I can't help but feel that intentional or not his focus and drive have dipped since the possibility of a transfer evaporated. It'd be a brave call, but I almost wonder if it might do him some good to start on the bench tomorrow. Before the Leicester game Vieira spoke about him being difficult to work with, softening that by saying it comes from Wilf's desire to win. As always with Wilf it seems a complicated puzzle of how to best manage him to get him to perform.

Maybe "challenging" would have worked better, or maybe just say nothing.

I asked a question up the thread: why we were so crap? I will chuck in a theory. - Leicester better that their league place (bet we don't stuff Forest 4 - 0) Obviously, that does not excuse the inexplicable drop in quality of passing; but it might excuse the squad rotation, substitutes and dull, defensive performance. One or two better passes and we could have achieved the objective and have taken all 3 points against the run of play.

I'm more willing to subscribe to the 'we just didn't really turn up on the day' theory ST. A continuation of this performance will have disastrous consequences but whilst it is worthy of criticism and ridicule the old adages of 'not getting out of first gear', 'off day' and 'heads not in the game' etc may well be of relevance for the game. I don't think it outrageous to say 'we were awful' given the context of how we all know the team can play or to express another proverb of 'not being at the races'. It isn't hard either to imagine that some teams may not turn up to each and every single game giving the best showing of themselves. Haaland has looked like some sort of footballing deity this season and nigh unstoppable however was poor against Liverpool yesterday. Obvious deficiencies remain such as the lack of a midfield and it felt like a wasted opportunity however whilst possible for it to continue, I expect to see better in games to come (hopefully starting tomorrow). We gave a poor showing of ourselves against Leicester, one of our worst performances I've seen in a while however we came away with a point and a clean sheet. It's done for now and I sincerely hope for better against Wolves. 4 points from those two games would be great and superb in seasons recently passed and more than possible as things stand. Just worth pointing out, as Gallagher isn’t the answer to every problem.
