The Dutch manager (LVG) has already come out & said "if you want to have a chance of being in his world cup team you have to be playing for your club week in & week out"
Obviously that's just one manager but I would imagine there are a few that feel the same way.

I still think another year with Palace would be the best solution for CG.

Already integrated into our squad, pretty certain of a starting place and therefore regular football in a World Cup season. Plus a better chance of developing his game.

I agree with you. Chelsea are still linked with Declan Rice and also have Billy Gilmour knocking around - unless he's the next Josh McEachran.

Yes a good post . Would be a good move for him and us , another year loan with us and option to buy maybe .

The sooner people mentally move on from Gallagher the better.

It's highly unlikely that he'd be coming back, his value at least doubled while he was with us and there would be a flood of top clubs in for him if Chelsea made him available.....which would surprise me to be honest.

I'm not convinced I'd want CG back;
He was exactly what we needed early on in a season of Transistion. Loads of energy, break up play high up the pitch, take pressure off players trying to adjust to a new team/manager/setup, scoring a few for good measure.
Now were 'settling in' the likes of Eze Olise hughes are done adjusting and can relieve that pressure themselves.

Sure CG will be useful to have around - those types usually are - and we should be bringing in more newbies to integrate, but for me he was the perfect Loan .. except that he was so effective at the job he had we now cant afford him this season!

I genuinely think we'll do alright without him.

Good post Badger. I agree that we need to move on, not that I wouldn't have him at the right price, but we're unlikely to see the right price quoted and we're likely to be outbid by some of the wannabee big clubs.

The Conor who ended the season was a shadow of the one who began it.

If we get him, needs to spread his effect better so he plays at his starting standard to the end.

But I suspect he will not return and he has had his glory period. Everton or Newcastle will shell out a fortune and wonder why he is not as good as when he played for us early doors.

Most kids of his age don't get to play every game - we should have used him more sparingly in my opinion - by the end of the season he looked shattered.

The acquisition of O'Brien from Huddersfield (for a far better fee) would help with the loss of Gallagher.

I cant see Chelsea letting him go, but if they did, his fee would be sky high. Just as long as he doesnt goto Everton.

Agree completely, he unbalances the team, and with 65 fouls, most by any player, and 10 yellows, 2nd worst, he has a lot of negatives as well as the benefits

Can you imagine the meltdown from the fan base if he was not selected! I agree but tbf PV did substitute him on several occasions.
IMO he was best playing in the advanced role but now we have Eze back, do we need him? I loved having him at Palace but would not want to break the bank for him

I’m not sure how Everton are supposed to buy anyone, they are supposed to be skint under FFP rules. I agree about O’Brien, him and Doucore would add the steel to compliment the skill of Eze and Olise.
