I don't think that's fair. The Club's interests and the fans' (or customers') interests are for the most part identical. We both want success for our Club, and it doesn't strike me as wrong for those operating on our behalf in the murky world of transfer deals to hold their cards close to their chest until those deals are signed, sealed AND DELIVERED. At that point we can celebrate (or usually!)

At the certain risk of lowering the tone, I'm reminded of the female TV chef many years ago who, in explaining one stage in her recipe, remarked that "at this point it's a case of the longer you take over it the better it is at the end". Hmmm.

Not been announced. The trouble is we all get excited as someone posts that ‘it’s a done deal and he’s signed a five year contract’ weeks ago. That was obviously bollox so the source was simply telling him/her of the aspiration. IE that is what we’d like to do. I hear the occasional thing but I never post as half the time it’s utter cobblers and when I trace down the source it’s simply a bloke in the pub who reckons his mate is Dougie Freedman when, in reality, he probably washed his car once.
I wish this stuff was posted as ‘I hear we are looking at’ as it takes away the expectation.
Feel free to call me out on the post and tell me how much everyone loves and enjoys these posts but for me they are just bloody irritating and get my hopes up - irrationally!!!!

No, because if he had signed the club would announce it as decent signings equate to more tickets and merchandise being sold. They may sit on things for a while whilst they wait for work permits and the like but unusual for this length of time. So, yes, obviously bollox that he signed weeks and weeks ago on a five year deal.

As I said it was likely aspirational and we’re confident we can pull it off - rather than it’s ‘Cheick Doucoure - Done Deal 5yr deal - €20m’
