Afghanistan: Mothers throw babies over airport barbed wire to British soldiers as they are beaten by Taliban.

It has really come to this.....

Yesterday General Nick Carter said the Taliban were “country boys” who should be given a chance and there was no evidence of violence against women.

That interview was beyond belief. I actually watched it twice because I did not actually believe what I was hearing in it. Thought my comprehension must be skewed, that I had got the wrong end of the stick but no. Right the first time.

The West is utterly bereft of any kind of meaningful leadership. We are in the deep, deep, s***.

Honestly I think that the Taliban were afraid of a bit of instant retribution - this is why there press releases were much more "we have changed, women can do this & that" & "those that want to leave can go peacefully without fear of being attacked" - it would be lovely if they meant it ( & I would love to be proved wrong) but I feel its just a front until they have judged what reaction (if any) occurs from the west & until the media spotlight moves onto something else

Being reported across many media sites that Dominic Raab claimed he was "too busy" to speak to the Afghan Foreign Minister as the Taliban were closing in on Kabul. This despite the fact he was on holiday.

Beggars belief the PM expelled Rory Stewart from the Conservative Party yet keeps this individual in his cabinet.

IDS saying we should take the lead fine problem is that it will be a coalition of one, the rest of Europe are keeping their heads down.

Thing is, after Boris [signing the deal on Ireland in January, then a few months later saying he is going to break it, against international law, why on earth would anybody trust us ever again, especially the Europeans!/quote]

And when Afghanistan starts slipping from the radar, we are then reminded of what a complete shower of 5hlt we have in the HoC who are imbuing the UK population with their infinite wisdom of how to run a country.

Media will turn their attention to "didn't we do well at the Olympics" and who was voted off Strictly CD.

It seems perplexing that a CPFC football forum has come up with practical 'unpoliticised' suggestions that would undoubtedly give a far better outcome than the complete farce that is still many years from unfolding completely.

They will blame Covid-an unprecedented challange for a present day government, they were pushing the vaccine remember!

Perhaps that was because Rory Stewart wasn't much of a conservative.

You are aware that it's meant to be a conservative party right?

HOC yesterday was a virtue signallers convention.

Labour complaining that the UK should have done more to build an anti Taliban alliance amongst the west ignoring the fact that the government did try to do that and got a firm no from the EU et al (not that I blame them).

Lisa Nandy complaining about UK withdrawing troops when a few months ago she went on record saying it was time for the UK to leave.

Starmer was using his full "Captain Hindsight" superpowers to tell HOC how he'd seen this coming of course he and the rest of the opposition hadn't bothered to mention Afghanistan until the last few weeks.

As for the Tories according to the media Mrs May never made a single speech about Afghanistan whilst PM until yesterday when she was full of concern.

I am not excusing the government the evacuation has been a shambles and Raab should not have been on holiday, however the US withdrawing was a unilateral decision and NATO and the EU were not interested in stepping up so what exactly was the UK supposed to do.

Half the Labour Party spend their time going on Stop The War marches now all of a sudden they want troops in.

The level of hypocrisy from all sides of the house and lack of viable alternate plans yesterday was shameful.

You might as well as said "something most be done" that's the level of intelligent debate we get these days. "Sir, sir Boris minor is not paying attention".

Truly excellent post, which I think sums up the frustrations of many.

The videos showing murdered men on the street tells a different story to the suddenly media savvy Taliban.

It's Taqiyya, which in Islam is the practice 'lying to gain the upper-hand over an enemy.'

Could be. Given the speed of this all then it's possible they might actually be a little bit spread out. They don't appear to giving any real problems to the troops operating either on or out of the airfield and are potentially as keen on seeing the back of them as the likes of Biden are.

They know they have won so why create waves? In a week or to they can do whatever the hell they want. For now, play it all nice and cuddly and then who cares?
