From Lewisham's bid "Lewisham's bid, promised to "inspire local people to take action on climate change". Its plans include a large-scale dance performance and a climate-change carnival."

So Basically the taxpayers is funding a party which will leave a load of mess to be cleaned up.

Meanwhile the Mayor maybe in hot water as there are allegations of impropriety around the awarding of this scheme, imagining my shock a Labour Mayor giving taxpayer's money to Labour councils. We shall see if anything comes of these allegations.

Unfortunately in the past large scale celebrations in Lewisham such as "People's Day" may well have good intentions but it also brings with it a fair share of trouble. No doubt all police leave will be cancelled for these new celebrations. One more point
