Did the peace and love bands of the 60’s lead to social change or just provide a soundtrack for people who thought fitted in with their worldview? I think that's a very fair question to ask. I would definitely never support the banning of this music. Anti social Rap...to whatever level is simply an expression of issues that already exist not the cause of them.....is some of it healthy for them....probably not...but do we rip fags from the mouths of adults? The cause of the issues within certain sectors of the black community are not going to be lessened by the banning of music. Personally I don't think anything actually can be done about the causes......Not in a practical or ethical sense. However as an insight into this community (which isn't exclusively black anyway ) the music is a library for anyone interested to take note.

"It would be easy to dismiss YTBYTN as nothing more than a bad influence on the youth of their hometown, on the basis their lyrics make repeated reference to drug-dealing and conflict with the police. But that overlooks the fact that rapping about the realities of urban life can be an escape route for young men from disadvantaged backgrounds, and it also ignores the reality that their music is compelling enough to be popular in the town" What, just because they stabbed someone to death? What happened to the general consensus of reasonable law abiding citizens?

This isn’t just about the music though. There are also films and video games that glamourise a certain attitude. I have no idea how much effect they have but I do remember people trying to kick each other’s heads in during the Bruce Lee era.

Rap music (and yes it has perfectly respectable forms) has been a contributor to that culture. I agree that playing music or playing a violent game isn't quite what some think it is....getting rid of these things isn't going to make your streets safe. I mean don't get me wrong....if you could enforce a milk toast, church going environment from cradle to grave as the culture then violence would go right down.....but this is practically and ethically unrealistic. But you could ask the question why do some people listen to classical music and others listen to anti social or aggressive music? Obviously to an extent, it's about what is available and accepted within their family/local culture....but I believe that people also seek out what fits their temperament. What happened to the general consensus of reasonable law abiding citizens? Quite clearly, the young one should have been taken into care years ago. The older two should have already been in prison for possession with intent to supply and possession of a weapon. However, nobody dealt with an obvious problem before it happened and someone is dead. Will not be the first or last. Pretty much the same across the UK.

Do you genuinely not understand what's being said? ....or are you playing the usual....funny how that's what you chose to respond to isn't it. Ok, there's a scale of quality people in every community, white, black, asian....whatever community whatever group. What we define by 'quality' is whatever that individual is setting as the metric. A meritocratic scale is used for pretty much anything important in life.....employment to education to who you marry. Ok, go onto an online store that's open to the public like Gumtree and buy 100 items from 100 different people.....there will be a percent that knock you or fib a bit about the product and a percent that deal fairly.....At the end of that experiment you'd be able to say how many people dealt with you fairly as opposed to not.

As with fashion and slang, etc. peer pressure is very powerful. It’s an old story - look at an old photo of a crowd. Thousands of men didn’t wake up and think a flat cap was a daring fashion choice. Not wearing a hat must have seemed quite rebellious.

I don't have time to sit on this forum all day so I chose to respond to the wildest part of your post. Ive never heard someone have a scale of quality within a race. Maybe I don't understand what you're saying. Not sure I want to, absolutely bizarre
