We are so useless at home that anything could happen. Huddersfield is a must win. We don't want the Cardiff game to mean anything for us by then.

We played OK and on another day it could easily have gone our way. They defended deep and well and scored two well taken goals. Their game plan worked, just as our away plan often does. That's modern football for you! Breaking a team down who play like that is not as simple as some seem to think. If Man City couldn't do it to us why should we expect to do it to Brighton? It does mess up our approach for the cup game against Watford though. If we had won I think we would have played our strongest side. Now I suspect a few won't be risked against them. No chance we will go down, but we must sort this out at home, I’m convinced the problem lies through the midfield, transitions from defence to attack have to be quicker, probably why we are so good away.

I still think Cardiff will go there next 4 games are: Chelsea As long as we pick up 1 win in the next 4 that opens up a 8 point gap meaning Cardiff will have to win 3 in the last 4 which they have: Brighton Edited by dazza (09 Mar 2019 6.38pm)

Think we are so good away is that teams come out to us and we can exploit them on the counter attack with quick breaks to the likes of AWB, Wilf and Andros. All the midfield need to do is pass the ball forward through the spaces. Not actually that difficult. Teams that just sit back and let us come at them we need a different approach with a midfielder able to create a position where they can put in a dangerous pass and link up well with the wingers. They need the creativity to make those positions and be prepared to go forward. For all his faults Meyer is the closest to this, who is our most attacking midfielder at the moment.

Historically teams that are more or less already down tend to relax and try and play their stuff, which is why I'm not overly confident for the Huddersfield game. I was naïve enough to think that after the win against Burnley we would kick on today and finally show some home form...

One game from a Wembley appearance and the poor performance today should mean we will have a strong team next week. It was not giving it a go today that cost us some points.

Puzzled why Roy didn’t see this another game where Kouyate’s strength and height was needed. The players need to braver about shooting and stop trying to walk the ball in. PVA has gone from a player showing too much swagger to having zero confidence and has fallen off a cliff. Dann appeared frustrated that he showed so little in the first half and didn’t seem to want the ball and even my kid questioned why he gave Knockaert so much time and didn’t force him onto his right foot. Townsend had a shocker and needs to find his shhoting boots again. Been some turgid performances at home this season but this was a real low point.

We are definitely in relegation danger now. It will be one of us, Cardiff, Southampton, maybe Newcastle. Cardiff: We are 5 points clear of Cardiff, but we still have to play them, which is a huge benefit to them. Given they could pick up 3 points there and deny us any, we're effectively 2 points safe from Cardiff. True, they play 4 of the big 6, but they are showing signs of life, handling West Ham easily today. Southampton: Huge 3 points today stolen from Tottenham. They have the easiest schedule left, with only Liverpool being a top 6 team that they have to play. Based on that, I have to imagine they will get a bunch of points the rest of the way. Burnley: They have the hardest schedule left, 4 of the top 6. A match against Cardiff is the only one they play against fellow relegation candidates. Us: Who knows. We can't beat anyone at home, we can rarely even score a goal at home. Doesn't matter if we play City or Huddersfield, I have no confidence we can beat anyone at Selhurst. People were saying our "recent form" was good prior to Brighton, but the two games we won, we were outplayed and were lucky to win. So we've had three games in a row now where we didn't play that great. Based on the schedules, I think the Saints are safe. Cardiff will be a dog fight with us, and I'm hoping all the good teams can keep Burnley from getting points. I really think we're in more danger than people realize.
