Those of you criticising SP over "another transfer f***ed up" are being ridiculous. Nobody knows the facts, nobody knows who said or promised what. £19 million for Solanke is a huge gamble. How much did Bournemouth pay for Jordan Ibe after he played one good game and what had he done? Solanke hasn't even played that.

Correct si 1967, £19 Million for someone that is completely untried is a gamble too far, don't blame SP for this one, Solanke and the bin dippers wanted a permanent move that we at that price were not prepared to pay.

£19m for him!! Outrageous if true, thank god we didn’t pay it. I’m sure you could get a much more proven striker from Europe for that.

Why were we the fans told that we(CPFC) pulled pulled out of the deal over a FAILED medical? Then, low n behold he signs on a perm deal for £19m.

Not fussed he’s gone to Bournemouth, hopes we would do better anyway. Does beg the question what happened though. Clearly palace saying medical concerns scuppered the deal is total tosh with Bornemouth prepared to pay big money. After parish’ comments on tv about the Solanke deal, he looks a bit of a mug here.

He has been out recently with an injury problem and there were concerns about his fitness. In our situation we really want a player who can start immediately rather than have a player who has to spend some time on the sidelines.

Our concerns over his fitness were legitimate because we need a striker now. Bournemouth have Wilson and King (although this does indicate Wilson may be on his way) so can afford the luxury of letting him recover and then giving him game time slowly. I'll be interested to see when he starts a game in the Premier League for them If this was in the summer then we would all be in our right to be irritated although 19 million does seem a lot, but this just smacks of the board learning from previous mistakes and that's a good thing.

I thought it wasn't an injury that concerned Palace rather his ability to be ready to make an immediate impact, with his fitness being questioned? It would have made no sense to spend £19m on an inexperienced and untried player in our position as the fans would have no patience and there would be too much pressure on him. I also doubt we have £19m to spend on one player. I imagine Bournemouth are buying for the future whereas we perhaps have more immediate concerns. They have brought in players like Ibe, Ake and Brooks who I imagine they hope will develop and provide the club with a platform to build on. Personally I think Klopp has pulled the wool over their eyes with recent talk of his potential future at Liverpool. If he was that good Klopp would not be letting him leave the club at such a tender age and he would have got more game time this season. Those two factors say to me he is not perhaps as good as initially hoped. That is pure speculation on my part though.

They're also 11 points out of the drop zone so could quite realistically be thinking about next season. Another luxury we can't afford.
