Attacker or not you have got to at least try to head the ball?

We weren't their bud.
I'm guessing that if he could've he would've, as any of us would?

Today he had his best game for us imo. It's been a long time coming.

We definitely miss benteke all over the pitch , that was benteke,s position that Ayew was taking in front of goal and I’ve even seen benteke clear them off the line a few times before at close range

Roy runs out of options rather than ideas. He's doing a good job with an unbalanced, injury prone squad lacking in the ultimate quality of maintaining bottle / technique in front of goal.

When Spurs scored their winner the three best headers of the ball at the club were off the pitch in Dann, Benteke and Tomkins.

We dont just need a "Striker" we need two good attacking midfield players / wingers.

A good manager works with what he's got and doesn't just go pffft I can't do anything with this lot so I won't, he actually made some good subs today, just far too late as per usual. Roy's way past his best now sadly.

Put Sorloth on earlier whilst we were mostly in control, admittedly he's not the greatest player but he's all we had and what we had on the pitch never looked like scoring, he couldn't have done any worse and it did actually work when he brought him on (and Schlupp amazingly) but by then it was too late, doesn't matter how the rest of the team are playing atm (and they're good enough, sometimes brilliant) if we can't score we can't win. He seems to think if we're not letting in goals then we're doing well as if he's never seen Palace play and let in that inevitable late goal.

indeed...i wish i had the stats for his defensive headers but he does an awesome job at both ends of the pitch.

when bentekkers is back, we just need to throw balls into the box to get his confidence back again.

i remember a interview with wilf last season when he said “i cant get onto chris for his lack of goals as he will score the goal that keeps us up”

We have only scored 1 goal from open-play in the last 5 games.

Top scorers among our recognized strikers so far this season - Sørloth 1 (vs Swansea in League Cup) and Wickham 1 (Dulwich).
As one of the TV commentators said, come January Palace need to fork out for a man who can put the ball in the net.
Say no more, good finishing effort against Spuds, but please NOT compare Meyer and Schlupp. MM is class....

I wouldn't know where to find statistical data enabling a comparison of our goals scored /minutes played with and without Benteke on the pitch, but my general impression is that they'd underline he's a key player for us even if a return to his best form would be hugely welcome.

I wasn't looking forward to watching this game, then I heard Zaha wasn't playing, and I seriously thought what is the point when I knew the outcome ahead of time. We could play for 900 minutes and probably wouldn't score a goal.

Our talent level is shockingly bad. Outside of Zaha and AWB, I couldn't even say who our next most talented player is. No one else is important to our team. They are all mediocre and replaceable.

Our midfield is awful, our forwards are the worst in the PL. Our back 4 is good.

After last year, I honestly can't believe our starting 11 could be worse, but they are. We all know that nothing is coming at the transfer window.

Really depressing to watch this season when all you can hope for is maybe three other teams will be worse than us.

Losing 1-0 to Spurs is no disgrace.
Factor in no Zaha , no Benteke , Tomkins had to go off injured and we still had chances at a point we did OK.
Burnley lost 4-0 at home to Spurs.

There are some teams flattering to deceive who will slip down the league.

For all our seasons back in the premier when we have been in a 'relegation fight' we have finished mainly in a mid table position. I think there are too many so called 'fans' who just want to be proved right in their doom and gloom and the club is run wrong predictions.

If we finish where we are now , job done.

All realistic stuff.
