Same old story isn't it? We just can't score (barring Wilf), can't take our chances when we get them so we lose games. Roy's far too slow to react, it's bordering on bizarre the way he refuses to sub players until it's too late. I hesitate to say this and it probably has nothing at all to with it but could it be an age thing?
Bangell - If Camus wrote The Myth of Sisyphus today, it would be about Jason Puncheon eternally trying and failing to pass with his right foot. |

Your posts are ridiculous, did Roy miss with his head in the last minute? Your right...Roy missed today with his head certainly because is where all the team decisions came from! (To be precise the problem was that some become late, wrong or didn't happened...) Appalling!

To be totally honest, if a Red had been issued there wouldn't have been too many complaints by those who have had the opportunity to see the incident numerous times in 'Slow-Mo'. Referee was very well placed and it would appear that in real-time he probably just saw it as Capoue taking out Zaha to prevent a breakaway. I don't agree with the tin hat brigade that the ref was out to get us but I do think he felt it was too early in the game to send someone off, which is just as bad.

You are very much one of us Roy. But you have to start listening to the fans. Your loyalty to Benteke is now wearing thin. Swansea is a chance to get Ayew, Mayer and Sorloth and others a full 90 minutes. Let’s not let a rot start to set in early.

I'm concerned the majority of fans will start making their feelings heard on the pitch which isn't good for anyone. Not sure who holds on to the 'if he just gets that 1 goal' mentality anymore, he may have finally finally done it this time. (Benteke that is)

We looked disorganised in defence with having to change two players. I don't think Tomkins would have got outmuscled as easily as Kelly. In his brief cameo it does look like Meyer will be a starter very soon; a snappy tackler, quick, good touch. I don't in all honesty know much about Ayew, but with 10 goals last season I wonder why he isn't getting a look in? He looked pretty p*ssed off sitting on the bench.

What I don’t understand is we take so long to put crosses into the box, yet every opportunity Watford got they put in the box. It is pointless playing Benteke when he thrives on crosses and we don’t do this. He had 3 opportunities today a great save, a header wide and a great strike that was unlucky. We either have to start playing to his strengths or drop him for Ayew.

Hodgson aint gonna change his spots at this stage of his career. He is very old school in many ways and not giving new players an early chance is one of his traits. With that performance I have to believe that Meyer will start in the next PL game, but you just never know with Hodgson. I am generally happy he is our manager but my word he is frustrating sometimes. Benteke's career seems to be over if you ask me, his touch is heavy, he is not getting good chances converted, he looks like he cannot win as much in the air anymore. I am not sure who sanctioned the purchase of Sorloth but he just looks like a crapper version of Benteke currently. With Wickham out that means RH has to rethink his entire approach and get Ayew into the mix, and maybe push Wilf wider, but lets face it, it aint gonna happen. If RH stuck with Benteke last year, why would he do any differently this year unless Wickham is fit, which seems a big IF. RH is loyal to a massive fault, last season with him sticking with Benteke shows you that as plain as the nose on your face.
Trump lost. Badly. Hahahahahahaha. |

Benteke just needs to be dropped, and Roy knows it too. This is the kind of game he needs to dominate if he wants to prove a point @120k/week. Same goes for Schlupp, our most average first-team player by far. Only reason Roy is playing him because he's basically a second left-back. Roy will roll out Sorloth/Ayew and Meyer into the first team, we'll gain quality, but we'll lose some of the defensive shape. We can't defend forever tho. Ugly game and a shame we weren't physical enough to match them 1 on 1. Both teams played literally the same system so there was lots to gain just by beating/outmuscling your man. COYP. Very disappointed today. Yet again chances created and missed particularly in the first half. Luka looked really off the pace and seemed to lack strength. No blame on Hennesey for me for the second goal! Hit and hope cross which fortunately sailed in. Missed opportunity in my opinion as Watford certainly not at their best in the first half. There for the taking but again clear missed chances have cost us dearly. Sadly again referee had one or two crucial decisions to make early on and failed to make the correct call.
