Kids? How patronising! I guarantee these "kids" have done a lot more for the club than a washed up middle aged man like you.

The move was supposed to be for the whole fan base, not just the HF.

What have they done for the club, sing a few songs and wave banners, wow! Hardly original. Where were they when crowds dipped whilst we were at the bottom of the championship? They are just another version plastic glory hunters riding on the back of our recent upturn in fortune.
How does it benefit the whole fan base, your logic is flawed.
Your occupation suits you by the way.

I did. And I apologise. I let my anger get the better of me by sinking to the same childish name calling which I'm trying to fight against.

Apologies.

I was under the impression the residents that have to move home to make way for the new stand will be relocated in an upgrade property (more sq footage, etc) AND compensated for the disruption to their lives as well as all relocation costs covered.
Before you say how would I like being forced out of my home, you are right I wouldn't but the again I didn't move to the corner of a football stadium site where the freehold covering the land keeps passing ownership and the shadow of redevelopement always being there since the stadium was built in 1924!

So if the block E fans were compensated, would that make things ok?

Unnecessary and provocative.

Good on ya.
We all needed 'guidance' as youngsters. Hopefully, over time along with experience, it'll sink in.

When safe standing comes in and the owners decide to make blocks D,E and F standing. Will you fight against it?

I can guarantee you it will be those blocks.

And there will be no compensation on the table this time.

It’s not just about Block E - the entire lower Holmesdale would have their view at least partly blocked by standing in E or F . Why do folk not understand that?

The redevelopment is a necessary investment and upgrade to help the club grow, moving fans is not.

Will this be five? It's gonna be five! It IS five!

If it follows other countries & stadiums then it won’t for the same reasons above - it would restrict the view across the entire stand.

Back rows & corners are the usual spots unless you’re doing an entire stand/tier.

I've not read the whole thread but get the gist of the feelings. I'm one of the old men now and don't get there as often as I would like but still enjoy the atmosphere of block B.
Going back to when I was a teenager, I stood on the Holmesdale terrace and we cheered and sang - the club even provided song sheets once. Then they built the arfur and we were the singers below the TV gantry in the middle. At the time we were in the 3rd division and had the cup run. There was a great atmosphere at home and away - four trains to Sunderland, 40 or 50 coaches to some games. That died out a little and crowds dwindled, then when Wright and Bright played it brought more excitement to the ground, another cup run and the atmosphere improved again.
Another dodgy patch and the HF came along. Well done them, brought the noise and passion back. Yes, they (or hangers on) do daft things like smoke bombs at Brighton. Maybe they were youngsters and are now growing up so need to save a bit - home and away all season does cost a few bob.
Whatever happens the club will still be there, the loyal supporters will still be there, there will be singing - from the arfur at least. Someone, or another group will take the lead
If Roy works his magic and we start rising again the crowds will return, so will the noise

There is very little support from the law makers for a change to allow safe standing so it is not when but a very big IF.

A number of organisations and clubs have asked for it to be reviewed but no change is imminent.

So the first question is if safe standing was allowed would the club want to implement it?

Assuming they did I think they would want to trial it somewhere. I think they would choose Block B (- the Ultras current place) as this has the recent history of standing. If it was sucessful it would be expanded.

Things can only move forward by evolution not revolution.
