It was more promising than Huddersfield that's for sure. But at Liverpool I was surprised of their instructions not to high press. Instead they timed the moment to kill our moves dead and win the ball back with ease just at the start of their 3rd. It was a decent away performance but that was helped by the mediocre Liverpool team on the day. Versus Swansea I noticed how when a move broke down it was not in dangerous areas but 25 yards from their goal. What I heard were Spurs types 'ohhhhs' 'arrrrghs'. I don't expect us to score on every move but where I think we might be going a bit wrong or limiting our effectiveness is only getting an attack together when there's 10 opposition behind the ball. This is unnecessary in any formation and shows a significant slowing down in play. Compare this to the 2nd half and the up in tempo. Where I got Frank's comment on courage was when there was either an obvious space for a player to move into and receive a pass and where also a player was standing waiting for it. This was often Wardy waiting for it high up but team knowing he's limited, or PVA being a frustratingly useless Dutchman in a 3 at the back formation, unable to pass it or show for it. So I am watching and seeing it's not only leaving us vulnerable at fullback defending if not all behind the ball but also not using the spaces made out wide, mainly because we don't have the players out wide on the right or PVA has a problem in his head or body. Really perceptive analysis Rudi

Gotta say Van Aanholt has looked very poor so far this season but Ive never really been convinced by Schlupps positioning etc either. Both a bit headless chicken types. Can't be the only one who actually think a fully fit Souare is actually the best left back at the club. That mediocre Liverpool team just smashed Arsenal 4-0 at Anfield though, so it shows what a Klopp side is capable of if you completely refuse to adapt. Edited by Mstrobez (28 Aug 2017 9.44pm) It was sandwiched between 2 massively critical Hoffenheim games with Liverpool playing at a different tempo, knowing they'd get enough chances without much hassle, which they did, about 6 of them, just like Huddersfield and Swansea actually. Once those 3 games were out of the way they have Arsenal to give it to, and did, and the international break. Completely different, but had 6 chances anyway. Just because we had 1 at 0-0 it's an almost result. Fair enough if the 2 home games weren't playing players out of position etc etc etc.
