Absolutely agree we were collectively awful but mainly after the 10th minute error from "super Wayne", if you were there, you would have seen the collective heads drop, and a resigned feeling of " s***, not again" after he dropped the ball

I WAS there - unfortunately.

This is why refs who haven't played the game shouldn't be allowed to officiate. The players didn't appeal because, like the pundits, ex-footballers and a lot of our own supporters, they knew exactly what had just happened. Going for the ball with a bit of physical contact added but nothing over the top, nothing too blatant, and all just to put Hennessey off and it worked. Within the laws of the game it was.

Poll was a top ref regardless of what you think, no top ref has played football to ant standard, that's why they are refs.
Of course he said it was a foul, there was no other call, if our spineless defenders didn't bother to appeal, just drop theirs heads in shame, as they didn't bother go get anywhere near the dropping ball. Do you think any of the top teams would just accept it in the same way.

Probably get a lots of s**t for this but we seriously need to get off Hennessy's back . Sure he made a big mistake with the first goal where he should have punched it out but he has also made some sublime saves this season. I was dismayed to hear the crowd singing for Speroni during the game, what will that achieve? Players need to rebuild their confidence rather than continually getting on their backs. Before somebody makes their snide comments YES I am a season ticket holder for25 years

So you must have seen the confidence drain from the team after the goal, and Hennessey just shrugged his shoulders, looks like he didn't care!

Sublime...............!!!

Doesn't take control of his area, looks lost, NEVER saves a free kick, he s positioning is abysmal.
Been going to Palace since 1977, calamity wayne is definitely one of the worse keepers we've had. AND it spreads to our defence, they have no confidence because they know that their keeper is a liability. A good defence starts with the keeper inspiring confidence, taking control, coming for balls, CATCHING/PUNCHING, taking control, "MINE" he shouts, not, calamity does not inspire, at all, ever

Normally a keeper comes for a ball like that with his knee raised to protect his torso. If Jones wants to challenge he risks injury and he also spins the keeper like a top if he hits him. This obviously exaggerates any contact and the ref would then give a foul, which when you watch it back, it probably was.
The thing is we never appealed, again. Why would a ref even consider it a foul if the aggrieved party don't even bother to ask? We just accept things without question and never stand up for our teammates. Do none of them have any bollocks?

That is a lie and you know it - you just cannot say things like that without any proof. I suggest you withdraw that comment.

Sorry to say, but you're sounding more silly/juvenile with each post on this WH thread.

The difference between Saturday and Speroni at WBA was Speroni was virtually knocked unconscious by that challenge. Wayne was hardly even knocked off balance. He went in expecting 0 resistance, got a little, and it was enough to knock him off.

Still not convinced Speroni is the answer. Mandanda probably would have grown into the role as he got used to the league and been pretty good had he stayed fit based on his past career but can't know that for certain.

I didn't see him shrug his shoulders. What I did see when we were taking the kick off was him putting his hands in the air as if he was catching the ball like a batsman does after a forward defensive.

Maybe he should do that next time he f***s up another free kick. Go and stand on his line and re-practice his steps. You know, When he tries to be clever or cover up his deficiencies by standing behind the wall and not only that but standing and starting to move on the foot that is the same side as the wall. Not just the once either. Twice or more in a couple of weeks.

What's the odds he gets targeted for more of the same off crouch or whoever and we chuck a point or 2 or more away? Joke he is.

It's difficult to argue with any degree of certainty whether Speroni is or isn't the answer after being frozen out at the age of thirty six for the best part of two years.

What is without question is his strength of character and professionalism which have sadly been missing from the team for a long time.
