War is terrible. There are many millions of people whose lives have been ruined, and kids that need our help. We should do something, but I'm not sure what action is appropriate. Some of the actions of our governments have definitley made things worse. I agree we should show compassion to people. Of course we should. Now, in an unrelated development, Lily Allen has a career to promote and needs to be in the public eye. To mention the bloodbath in the Middle East in the context of Lily Allen's cheap, schmaltzy self publicising is a classic case of a non sequitur. There is no logical connection between the first set of circumstances and the argument for the second event. She won't remember them until her accountant asks her about the unexpected item in expenses when he's doing her tax return.

War is terrible.

There are many millions of people whose lives have been ruined, and kids that need our help. We should do something, but I'm not sure what action is appropriate. Some of the actions of our governments have definitley made things worse.

I agree we should show compassion to people. Of course we should.

Now, in an unrelated development, Lily Allen has a career to promote and needs to be in the public eye.

My point is that there are a heck of a lot of people who like to tell you how much they care about the 'refugees', put you down for questioning the situation but actually do flip all to assist the 'refugees' in any manner whatsoever. It's called virtue signalling.

And in that context, she's right. She also mentioned the flight to Egypt which, again, correctly, is another matter and another event. The flight to Egypt was after the birth and on the advice of the Magi so I'm correcting my earlier comment that they returned to Nazareth straight away. Doesn't alter the fact that the trip to Bethlehem was not the act of refugees, though.
