Thatcher has a mixed legacy. Her haters find it too hard to point to her success or instead find negatives even within them. The reality is that every main party's politics are wearing her clothes to some extent. She won the economic argument....Well at least with them if not with the 'head in the sand' ideologues who thing that continuing with Foot was preferable. For that was the choice we had, Foot or Thatcher, no one else. In my view she deserves all the respectful recognition that she will officially receive. As for the immature hate angst she receives from some..In my view no one of any real significance really cares to hear it: it's childish.

I could be wrong but didn't the Kent and Nottinghamshire miners - who went against the strike and basically behaved and didn't do anything to upset Thatcher - get shafted too?

Outstanding women, she had more moral courage than anyone in politics since, and more likely anyone in the future. She was spot on with the miners, who were basically holding the country to ransom. She was right with the Falklands, and in my book she was right to privatise some under performing lazy institutions like the water boards and the rail Company's Yes the poll tax was unpopular, and the way it was brought upon us was a mistake no argument from me on that. However I have yet to live under a PM that achieved so much, and left lasting legacies that while not popular at the time have proved to be the right choice. I find the vitriol aimed at her as some sort of she devil, is almost laughable if it wasn't so disrespectful. I wonder if the same people will be dancing in the street and foaming at the mouth when the (alleged) War Criminal and all round smarmy bastad His Tony-ness dies. Oh and apart from not being a war criminal, she didn't bankrupt the UK, or sell all our gold on the cheap. Edited by dannyh (08 Apr 2013 6.56pm)

If her funeral was classed as a day off, I bet you'd still take it off though, and correct me if I'm wrong that would make you a hypocrite. Would it not ?
