Once Rabin was assassinated and Likud re-gained power the two-state solution was never really going to happen. For them to sign Israel; 1) demanded control of another country's - Palestine - airspace. 2) The right for their military to enter Palestine anytime they saw fit. 3) Do a land swap. Palestine giving up more fertile and valuable land and, if reports are true, Israel giving inferior quality land in return. For Palestinians to sign they demanded the right of return of all refugees which on one level was very fair but, in truth, unworkable and reasonable of Israel to resist the total. The original 750,000 had now become 4million what with their babies being born stateless over the last 65 years.
Clinton obviously pissed off not to be The President recognised as being the one to finally solve the crisis.

Israel is surrounded by enemies. Creating a Palestinian state right next to it that also hates it and becomes powerful due to a balanced state agreement doesn't exactly make a lot of sense.....If your ambition is to cement the Israel state and ensure its survival. I've looked for information on the Camp David meeting and it's fair to say that Arafat was in a difficult position with an offer that.....While better than anything ever available before to the Palestinians....It was in reality a starting place for a state rather than a viable state..It appears Ghosty has a point here... The Palestinian state would have depended upon Israel....No doubt this was a powerful chip that Rabin meant to hold to ensure that the state didn't build up and then threaten Israel....Becoming a more powerful staging post for any future war with any of its enemies. Those who criticise Israel for not giving the Palestinians a proper state seem not to appreciate how difficult this is.....It could literally be sowing the seed for their own destruction. Until the moderates rule the roost in Palestine.....We will be forever stuck in this disaster of a situation. The more you think about it creating a Palestinian state has to be based upon it not attacking Israel....I'm not sure how you ensure this without making it partly dependent upon Israel being at peace.....A water supply is pretty powerful in that regard. It's a tricky one. Edited by Stirlingsays (08 Jul 2014 10.05pm)

From the brain that predicted Britain will be overrun with nazis in high office in ten years time as a result of UKIP doing well in the polls. Cut the crap. Where did you cut and paste it from? Did JamieIknowitall send you a link to his favourite websites?
