A ( maybe too late ) question.

Are you looking to appoint someone short term that you think could keep the club in the Championship, or are you looking longer term - and possibly someone that is on board with building again from L1 next year ?

I'd like to second this question.

Also, in relation to the rumours about Chris Hughton:

Is he experienced enough to turn this club around ?
He succeeded with Newcastle but when you have a squad with the likes of Barton, Carroll, Nolan, Gutierez, Matty Taylor and Harper in the championship you'd expect nothing less surely ?

Ryan

I know its crazy for people on here to expect you to answer who is on the short list, but please consider Mr Coppell for some role back at the club, if even its in a director of football role with Gareth Southgate or the like as first team coach/manager. We need Stevie back here. Thanks for everything.

George Courtney, the World Cup referee, everyone is looking at him. When will he blow....?

Do you think George Burley by taking the Palace job was on a hiding to nothing,in much the same way Alan Smith was the last time we came out of administration? Decimated squad,no coaching staff, embargo,it would take one hell of a manager to turn it all around in six months.

Edited by JayCee (01 Jan 2011 11.07pm)

decimated squad ?? Talk me through that?

"We have had to come in and build up a squad that had 10 or 11 players and no coaching staff. It's a work in progress but I think we are going in the right direction."

Quote from George Burley, sounds quite decimated to me.

Most managers want to change the coaching staff when they come in and get their own people so this would surely have been a benefit , actually George was happy to have dougie. Then we lost two players from the end of the season that were regulars that we couldnt prevent the others leaving were GB's choice .

Not much to ask your new manager is it ? to replace two players ?

Fonte, moses, derry, hill... all 4 would walk into the side at present.

Fonte was sold in January as was Victor, after that did we lose more games than anyone in the football league. did we concede more goals than anyone in the football league?

Edited by CPFC2010 (01 Jan 2011 11.31pm)

Not sure what your point is here... I assume you are not suggesting we weren't weakened by losing these players during the financial problems?

I don't think Sacking burley is the wrong decision. However i think he did take over a side that had been decimated by the problems and it was always going to be a tricky job. He has failed beyond what most would have hoped for. However he is only about 6points off par i reckon.

The team looke worryingly lacking in sharpness. Do we have a good fitness coach?

Hi Steve,

The potential permament signings identified by Burley -will these now be scrapped until the new manager comes in, or still going to be explored as time is of the essence and we need to change personnel?

Was it just a coincidence that Chris Hughton was at todays game or was he checking the team out?

coincedence or maybe he's a mindreader

Edited by CPFC2010 (01 Jan 2011 10.30pm)

really? so hes in the picture? would love to see him at palace steve, hes a top manager & a motivator which is just what we need!

I too would be very happy to see Chris Hughton arrive. That would be a major boost to our season which has been pretty awful so far.

I just hope that with the search for a new manager going on that people don't forget that we need more players. Lets be honest our defence is appalling and I hope that CPFC2010 remember why George Burley was in such a mess in the first place. Our team has some major holes in it. Also please, no more players on loan. We need players that are signed up and 100% behind the team in this situation.

Thanks for answering questions on here. Its very interesting.

A loan player scored a hatrick against us today! Is Alex marrow a bad loan, was JV?

No I think Marrow is awesome. I'd love to see JV back too but I dunno how likely that is now we have Iverson.
I just feel that filling in the cracks with loan players isn't a sensible move for the future and doesn't give the team alot of stability. I think till JV went back we had 5/6 players on loan from other clubs? I'd like to see us in this transfer window get a manager and sign up a few people for the long haul.

Good luck. I have faith in CPFC10's management and will be there backing the guys on monday.

Is there any scenario in which you will accept relegation to the third tier but leave the manager in post?

Can I just be the first to say how refreshing it is to have good old fashioned brutal honesty from the owners.

There are hundreds of posts this evening about whether it was right or wrong to chop Burley. The facts from Steve Parish are plain to see:

We have lost more games than anyone else in the football league.

We have conceded more goals than anyone else in the football league.

That is not a sign of a team rebuilding and on the up.

Well done CPFC2010 for doing it now and giving whoever takes over 5 months to sort it out. Some things in football or indeed in life just don't work out for one reason or another and sadly George Burley is one of those examples.

Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!!

He's right about only replacing two players

How hard is it to replace two journeymen in Derry and Hill?
