I may say I'm kind of qualified to a serious opinion. I saw Ajax play quite a bit under de Boer, and while getting results his tactics are always and that means pretty much always based on possession and control. His record in European football with Ajax was poor, partly because of this.
To watch, the build up from defense would quite regularly be so slow and tedious that it was simply very often extremely poor to watch. A plus might be that he definitely thinks utilizing wingers is the way to go That would be the only main point we have in our squad that I can see suits him. Other then that, lets face it, we are not a possession based, control football playing team and to think we can convert to that short term seems very ambitious to me.
He went to Inter, and stuck to his philosophy. Pretty much like van Gaal at Man United. Now that is something that scares me , as there is no doubt that unless he would adapt to both the Palace culture and develop an understanding of the English game and what fans want he will be a failure. The comments here that he would be great for the youth set up lack all substance, as traditionally that is a strong pont of Dutch clubs and Ajax in particular. Him bringing through youth at Ajax had far more to do with the available quality and set up then with Frank himself.

Other then that, he is a likable guy, mad about the game and often misunderstood for a grumpy person as he naturally has a big frown.

I would like a Ronald de Boer with an experienced head alongside like a Martin jol or hiddink.

You certainly have missed Martin Jol and Dick Advocaat on PL level. Lower down there were a few too, Jimmy Floyd and Dijkhuizen lately amongst others. Earlier: Jan Poortvliet , Edgar Davids and Johan Boskamp (such a beautiful first name ) come to mind.

Ruud Gullit for chelsea. Was pretty decent IIRC

I'm simply not going to jump through hoops every time someone is declared "bookies favourite" or "having talks" or is any way linked to the Palace job. I'm tired of all the speculation which usually leads to nothing except few thousand words being written by people who really have no more idea than any of us and by whose motto is, "Get it first, get it fast, get it now." How about doing some research and getting it right? Is that too much to ask? I have no favourite candidate and hiring a new manager, whomever that person ends up being, is always a risk.

Yes of course there is Ruud! Well he was pretty dire wherever he went after that. Don't rate him at all, even at MotD, I am astonished by his simplicity.

Great player in his time though

It's our 5th season in the Prem pending so I believe we have to try and go for something different. A foreign coach ... with fresh ideas, access to foreign talent not on our radar ... is just the sort of thing that might help us turn a bit of a corner.

I am over British coaches joining and leaving us after a brief spell (which is usually the case) or being linked to old dinosaurs looking for a final pay day. No offence Sam.

And by foreign, I don't mean Welsh a la Pulis or Coleman ...

Total turnover last season, less then 70 million..... Just the Premier League moneys of Palace: 115 m. Is this news for you?

Yes it looks very impressive on paper but Ajax are in the top two in the dutch league which is a lots easier than our PL and the resources and spend power he would have had would be at the top end of the league and therefore how would he perform on shoestring budget with a lot of very average limited ability players and a chairman who is very much hands on, which top manager would not like?

I thought we wanted someone who wouldn't use us as a stepping stone?

Exactly my first thought.

I want us to take a riskier option with our next manager and accept they may use us as a stepping stone if successful. Dyche is 11th-17th with dour football. FdB is 6th to 20th, with potentially good football and obviously can be sacked if not performing.

Parish himself is the custodian and he's chasing an impossible dream wanting Coppell MkII.
